  1. Wild beaver kits born in Norfolk for first time in more than 500 years
    By Donna Ferguson

Pair are offspring of two beavers who mysteriously arrived in Pensthorpe nature reserve near Fakenham in December

  2. Case has been dropped against #Serco employee accused of leaking #Thetford #Norfolk asylum seeker accomodation addresses - however this doesn't really let Serco off the hook, nor the local community - many others living in Thetford would have known the addresses (as its not that easy to just hide people in a street), and *chose* to circulate them..

(there's other social media circulating these details and they are not obviously linked to the man who was initially nicked)

  3. Some particularly chilling things about this #domestic #murder case in #Norwich #Norfolk are how effective #CCTV is in the city ( main cameras are *very* high quality HD images), offender was previously an *employee* of Norfolk #Constabulary and a craft #knife was used as the murder #weapon.

Such a knife is more widely available and doesn't raise many eyebrows when purchased by a middle aged adult man - but would also take a lot more premeditation to use effectively to cause serious harm than larger "zombie #knives" that gang members prefer..

And because of men like him I have to be paranoid about keeping a Sealey craft knife in my car (retrieved from a former fleet vehicle and used for peaceful purposes) in case I ever get a random stop check..

  4. A worker from #Serco has been #arrested and remanded in custody awaiting a #CrownCourt hearing, accused of leaking home addresses of asylum seekers in #Thetford who were subsequently targeted by right wing activists during recent race riots in #Thetford #Norfolk

(I did wonder how the activists knew which houses to target, immigrants make up a quarter of Thetfords population (much more than I thought!) so its not as if the gammons could target *every* house where someone didn't "look English")

  5. @noam

And typocraphically, the repetitive "o" in "bootiful" emphasises the horizonal over the vertical, appropriate for bootifully flat Norfolk.

  6. I drove through a fair chunk of #Norfolk this weekend and it looked in many parts like autumn had arrived a good month early.

The leaves on the trees were golden and crispy, while the fields were often dry dust bowls.

I felt so sad for the pigs and cattle I saw in areas that must have once had lush grass and now had just bare earth and the odd weed.

Never seen the UK look this drought parched in my life time.

These are the easiest circumstances to talk about #ClimateBreakdown. Do it.

  7. I had to fill 3 hours on my own today in the middle of #Norfolk…so I decided to take myself to #Holt.

My thinking was I can get myself a nice veggie pasty from Byfords and have a mooch knowing there will be public toilets open.

Byfords no longer sell pasties…I can’t tell how depressed this made this West Country lass at heart feel 💔

So I settled for a Moroccan roll and thimble of coffee from a Norfolk chain I had previously sworn off of. I am again - service charge for takeaway?!

  9. ‘I feel motherly towards them’: the nature reserve manager sharing her office with a wasp nest
    By Safeerah Ahmed

Eilish Rothney’s first instinct was to get rid of the wasps entering her converted shipping container in Norfolk. Now she enjoys their constant hum

  10. Decided to be wildly optimistic and purchase solar eclipse glasses tonight for whole family online in the hope that:

    A) they arrive by Wednesday

    B) the weather is not cloudy on Wednesday evening

    C) we can find a west facing hill that we can get to by 6pm that won’t also have half of Norfolk there

  11. I can well believe that the playing fields of #Norfolk and #Suffolk are too rock hard to play football on right now.

They are parched and dusty with many threadbare in terms of grass. Falling on them would be like landing on concrete.

Again this is where sport, #ClimateChange and class intersect…

Golf courses and private school pitches are still lush green.

  12. @Scullridge
Meant to make time earlier but other things, like a #birthday, got in the way. Took a #trip with some folk I know #aboard #Norada. I was even allowed to take the #helm while a reef was being taken out as we approached #Wroxham.

My mate is one of the #volunteer #skipper s and spends a lot of time on any of their various #craft.

Unless you know about #Norfolk 's 19th #inland #sailing #barges, some of which were converted into #holiday craft late in their life you won't get a good impression of the scale of the craft, as all my pictures were taken while aboard.
