This lass is more likely to be an HCA (healthcare assistant) rather than a qualified #nurse as she doesn't turn up on NMC register - just as well for her as she would end up before *their* disciplinary committee as well as Magistrates Court!

Its more likely effects of #SleepDeprivation caused her to weave across the road than #drugs themselves, but still not a good look (this is the main harm caused by #partydrugs as most folk do have the sense not to drive when completely high) - and a #healthcare worker on a drugs comedown isn't going to provide the best standard of care either..

Its good the #CrownCourt gave this lad a second chance rather than send him straight to #prison as thats quite a fair bit of #partydrugs to be caught with (although the #ketamine would have barely lasted a few weekends if its still consumed in the quantities it was 20 years ago)

I hope he takes it, and isn't now in debt to bad people who could cause him serious harm (do the Courts even check for this as part of safeguarding/rehabilitation? I feel they should, but they are probably underresourced) - I'm aware of lads who got themselves into similar situations and are now brown bread..

In around 2009 at one of the last raves I went to in East Anglia, I was speaking to lads in their teens/20s who told me about all their friends they had lost.

*At least* 10, of which half had overdosed (even on "safe" #partydrugs), other half had been killed in road traffic #collisions.

This is quite a heavy bodycount!

Looking at ONS stats for Ipswich and Mid Suffolk from 2011 (earliest I can find), it is fairly significant percentage of total OD and RTC deaths (10-30% of them).

You might wonder (especially if you were a raver in 1990s) - how come this didn't happen in "our" day?

Alas, its likely that it /did/, but authorities didn't have data collection resources of late 00s,and Coroners recorded causes of death differently so there's a lot of survivorship bias..

Alas: it is very likely the partying excesses of my generation which directly led to new #DUI laws being passed in the first place ( 2015 #England, 2019 #Scotland ) - unlike #alcohol where #driving impairment is obvious, with stimulant #partydrugs most people are safe on the roads after the peak of the drug has worn off but they are still awake/alert - what bites them in the arse is the comedown / sleep deprivation (there's even warnings about this in my books about motoring from the 1960s and 1970s!)

So if folk are staying high until Sunday evening, this hits during weekdays and can (and did) cause bad crashes during rush hours (which ofc often involve innocent parties) - hence the clampdowns (EU wide) as soon as there was enough evidence to prove what was happening.. >>

A large gang of #cocaine and #partydrugs dealers in #Essex including many middle class white men #laundering #money through legit businesses got nicked, found guilty in #Court and sent to #jail - but what stands out here is the sentences are much the same as for political #protests in Britain.

What message does that give to young people?

Especially as #drugs can at least in the short term make you easy money and increase your friend circle..

County lines are not even that new and were starting to develop in 2006 when I first moved here.

One reason they are so prevalent today is authorities in #EastAnglia have been relatively *successful* at clamping down on the more noisy, hedonistic and long lasting aspects of #partydrugs use such as illegal raves, whilst not addressing reasons *why* folk are drawn to #drugs use in the first place.

So many young people are now going straight to the harder and addictive stuff, rather than staying with partydrugs which stop being fun anyway if you do too much of them, and folk usually *have* to grow out of the lifestyle when they start driving or getting a more responsible job / becoming parents (but that also assumes youth feel they have the opportunity to do those things)

Even in my provincial town, some 80km away from #London , #teenagers decided to fight over the #sportsball

Saddest part of all this is one was also #nicked with class B (usually #cannabis , although sometimes other #partydrugs ) - when I was younger many lads who liked getting high were often also into #football but #drugs often *discouraged* them from fighting ( which is why the old bill to some extent turned a blind eye to the rampant use in the 90s and 00s ! )

20 years since this lad disappeared in #Ipswich - slowly some of the truth of what he had got involved in came to light, and that it is almost certain he is no longer alive - but still noone has been nicked for the #crime

This incident, and #murder later in the year of 5 sex workers led to a *massive* clampdown on #nightlife and #partydrugs across #Suffolk and #EastAnglia - which is still present today (and those younger folk whose fun was thwarted as a fallout from these clampdowns are now in middle age, many voting Reform out of spite..)

A genuinely sad case - #driver clearly wasnt a "good lad", involved with #drugs and under influence when #driving - but I don't think he set out to #crash and kill the lass and badly injure his friend

A wider issue is social circle for young people outside big cities is affected by #CarDependency and #ToxicMasculinity (I suspect his friend and girlfriend admired him for owning the #BMW )

If he'd stopped he'd likely have walked free from Court and got only 3 years ban as no one would have got hurt, but as fun as #partydrugs can be, they can lead to irrational and impulsive behaviour (he's also likely to be on the comedown and sleep deprived which wouldn't have helped matters)

Not surprised by this - older folk in #Suffolk got what they wanted - they complained bitterly for *3 decades* about loud #music, #booze and #partydrugs and demanded "streets got cleaned up"

Todays youth don't drink as much #alcohol, are more wary of #drugs due to health effects and consequences such as risk of being nicked for #DUI midweek (even if not impaired for #driving but with metabolites still in bloodstream), there's also increased workplace substance testing for those doing safety (or even business) critical work, more long hours/weekend working and young people are still skint anyway.

The #nightlife of the 80s-00s simply isn't coming back in its original form..

Getting into #drug dealing to the level these lads were at ages you - I'd originally thought they were old skool ravers closer to my age (or at least 30-something Millenial party folk), not still in their 20s!

As a former #partydrugs user I'm torn about the #sentencing - it seems harsh when there was 0 violence involved with the #drugs themselves - but continued #MDMA and #ketamine use *does* fuck people up in the long term and they appear to have previous for fighting their own siblings in the middle of a Co-op in #Sheppey #Kent which is precisely the kind of sketchy impulsive behaviour taking too much drugs can lead to (the emotional ups and downs can really play games with your mind, and not good ones..)

This is a *lot* of prison (12 years for the lad, he will serve 6-9 of them inside) for just #partydrugs with no violence involved, but there was a lot being sold!

Digging a bit deeper it appears he *tried* to get out of the game after #Encrochat got popped, laundered the money into an events management company but it folded (even ending up with an Employment Tribunal judgment as he didn't pay his staff correctly), then got back into dealing and thus created a second set of data for #MetPol to track and nick him!

There is 0 gain for either the #Police or the #retail outlets to lie about or exaggerate this phenomenon. I can well believe it happens as there has been a whole generation brought up to believe "there is no such thing as society", as well as many middle class people who are still bitter and angry (especially those who enjoyed #partydrugs in the 80s to 00s and have been forced to quit them due to more effective enforcement (and they can't behave badly on the roads either due to #CCTV ) - risky actions like #shoplifting can be another way of getting a dopamine hit)

This headline made me do a double-take, until I realised it was #RoadSafety Great Britain rather than #RSGB (#radio society of Great #Britain) for #RadioAmateurs - TBH if any #hams *are* pulled up for #DUI (unless they are prog-rock loving #hippies who still indulge now and then , which isn't that uncommon round here, quite a few #seniors been nicked recently) its more likely to be happen due to #drugs they got prescribed legally for age-related health conditions (usually #benzodiazepines and #opiates) than #partydrugs (beware - even a legal prescription is *not* a "get out of jail free" card, and an OM who ends up mounting the kerb trying to adjust his VFO whilst driving might well be swabbed / blood tested)

On one level this #meme is genuinely funny, but in reality its a good way for the kid to end up with a #safeguarding referral or worse, Dad ends up losing custody/visiting rights if he is no longer in a relationship with the kids mum (its happened to people I know!)

(I suspect the meme is from about 10-15 years ago when folk were more tolerant about #partydrugs use)

A 35 year old "drug-bro" and #entrepreneur from #Kent SE #England got 15 years #prison for producing #MDMA / #ecstasy tablets and other #partydrugs and filming his own lab on a mobile phone to show off to prospective customers.

Quite a long stretch for a #guilty plea (he would have got even more had the #Court case gone to trial, probably 20 years +). He will likely serve 10 years inside.

A "student focused #drugs operation" almost sounds like something you'd see in a prospectus!

Shame about the violence one of the lads had got into (leading to longer #prison time) and that #partydrugs networks are now also blighted by this #roadman culture and #violence (which will only entrench the views of those who want further #prohibition ).

The #student who got the lesser sentence was studying Computer Science - in my youth it was unusual for STEM students to get into #crime like this (liberal arts students tended to push boundaries more), but I guess "drug-bro" culture is all pervasive

A warning if you do take #drugs not to take so much to go "up" and then *more* to come down (so you can sleep and deal with other responsibilities) and beware of interactions between #partydrugs and prescribed #medications - he's not the only early middle aged man to die in this fashion, but as he was famous gets a bit more publicity and his inquest reported in the Press, a lot of the time there's so many fatal ODs to pick from going through HM Coroner they don't even bother to publicise every case..

When I was on birbsite Fiona Measham of the Loop also warned me about the phenomenon of middle aged men keeling over after a weekend binge (often its because they have cleaned up their lives a bit and lost their previous tolerance)

To be fair some lads *did* point out sharing the video could be problematic, but *no-one* picked up on the fact they've essentially grassed her up for potential #DUI (any cop or bootlicker now has her vehicle number plate)

LB: These #nitazenes are even finding its way into the #partydrugs used at #raves and #festivals (where #opiates are generally unpopular) and its leading to fatalities (my friends told me about one case at a prominent UK festival just last year, a young man who would not normally touch opiates was killed)

also an anecdotal (but plausible) claim on a #Facebook ravers group that #fentanyl occasionally is turning up in #ketamine even in UK.

As the stuff sells for a premium price on its own its not unlikely this is accidental contamination rather than any deliberate conspiracy (folk generally /don't/ take the risk of decades in #prison for dealing just to kill their customers), but it also shows #partydrugs and "hard" #drugs distribution networks are increasingly crossing over..

This is worrying, a *second* generation of young #drug users suffering serious and irreversible medical conditions due to #addiction to #ketamine (there was a similar wave of these incidents in the late 90s to late 00s, especially as K is a lucrative "cash crop" for small time dealers (it basically funded the underground rave scene in the 2000s and kept it going, as even if dealers were caught, penalties were less than other #partydrugs (which are mostly class A)
