A genuinely sad case - #driver clearly wasnt a "good lad", involved with #drugs and under influence when #driving - but I don't think he set out to #crash and kill the lass and badly injure his friend
A wider issue is social circle for young people outside big cities is affected by #CarDependency and #ToxicMasculinity (I suspect his friend and girlfriend admired him for owning the #BMW )
If he'd stopped he'd likely have walked free from Court and got only 3 years ban as no one would have got hurt, but as fun as #partydrugs can be, they can lead to irrational and impulsive behaviour (he's also likely to be on the comedown and sleep deprived which wouldn't have helped matters)

Todays youth don't drink as much #alcohol, are more wary of #drugs due to health effects and consequences such as risk of being nicked for #DUI midweek (even if not impaired for #driving but with metabolites still in bloodstream), there's also increased workplace substance testing for those doing safety (or even business) critical work, more long hours/weekend working and young people are still skint anyway.
The #nightlife of the 80s-00s simply isn't coming back in its original form..

Getting into #drug dealing to the level these lads were at ages you - I'd originally thought they were old skool ravers closer to my age (or at least 30-something Millenial party folk), not still in their 20s!
As a former #partydrugs user I'm torn about the #sentencing - it seems harsh when there was 0 violence involved with the #drugs themselves - but continued #MDMA and #ketamine use *does* fuck people up in the long term and they appear to have previous for fighting their own siblings in the middle of a Co-op in #Sheppey #Kent which is precisely the kind of sketchy impulsive behaviour taking too much drugs can lead to (the emotional ups and downs can really play games with your mind, and not good ones..)

This is a *lot* of prison (12 years for the lad, he will serve 6-9 of them inside) for just #partydrugs with no violence involved, but there was a lot being sold!
Digging a bit deeper it appears he *tried* to get out of the game after #Encrochat got popped, laundered the money into an events management company but it folded (even ending up with an Employment Tribunal judgment as he didn't pay his staff correctly), then got back into dealing and thus created a second set of data for #MetPol to track and nick him!

#Ketamine has now fucked up at least 2 generations in the UK (it was becoming a problem when I was a #raver in the 90s/00s) and the worst part of this is the fallout is only likely to lead to yet more #prohibition and #surveillance targeted at all the remaining #partydrugs users...

There is 0 gain for either the #Police or the #retail outlets to lie about or exaggerate this phenomenon. I can well believe it happens as there has been a whole generation brought up to believe "there is no such thing as society", as well as many middle class people who are still bitter and angry (especially those who enjoyed #partydrugs in the 80s to 00s and have been forced to quit them due to more effective enforcement (and they can't behave badly on the roads either due to #CCTV ) - risky actions like #shoplifting can be another way of getting a dopamine hit)

On one level this #meme is genuinely funny, but in reality its a good way for the kid to end up with a #safeguarding referral or worse, Dad ends up losing custody/visiting rights if he is no longer in a relationship with the kids mum (its happened to people I know!)
(I suspect the meme is from about 10-15 years ago when folk were more tolerant about #partydrugs use)

A 35 year old "drug-bro" and #entrepreneur from #Kent SE #England got 15 years #prison for producing #MDMA / #ecstasy tablets and other #partydrugs and filming his own lab on a mobile phone to show off to prospective customers.
Quite a long stretch for a #guilty plea (he would have got even more had the #Court case gone to trial, probably 20 years +). He will likely serve 10 years inside.

A "student focused #drugs operation" almost sounds like something you'd see in a prospectus!
Shame about the violence one of the lads had got into (leading to longer #prison time) and that #partydrugs networks are now also blighted by this #roadman culture and #violence (which will only entrench the views of those who want further #prohibition ).
The #student who got the lesser sentence was studying Computer Science - in my youth it was unusual for STEM students to get into #crime like this (liberal arts students tended to push boundaries more), but I guess "drug-bro" culture is all pervasive

The #Ambulance service #union in #Ibiza is warning that the service is being overwhelmed by emergency callouts due to #partydrugs, making a third of all callouts (I suspect its got worse as other European countries clamp down more, so folk flock to Ibiza and binge there)

A warning if you do take #drugs not to take so much to go "up" and then *more* to come down (so you can sleep and deal with other responsibilities) and beware of interactions between #partydrugs and prescribed #medications - he's not the only early middle aged man to die in this fashion, but as he was famous gets a bit more publicity and his inquest reported in the Press, a lot of the time there's so many fatal ODs to pick from going through HM Coroner they don't even bother to publicise every case..
When I was on birbsite Fiona Measham of the Loop also warned me about the phenomenon of middle aged men keeling over after a weekend binge (often its because they have cleaned up their lives a bit and lost their previous tolerance)

I'm also increasingly hearing of people from the #rave scene who don't normally take the harder stuff keeling over as they accidentally end up consuming these substances - #drugs #harmreduction

Contrary to the sterotypes of the #gammons - all white English men, and many relatively close in age to their victims (its just the tip of the iceberg too, this kind of predatory behaviour was rife in the 1990s/00s amongst young adult men (especially if they had #cars or access to #partydrugs ) and often just seen as "normal", especially on subcultures like the rave scene which attracted teenagers) #Bolton #Lancashire #crime

#Facebook #opsec #fail - rave "banter" group puts up video of a good looking young lass in England at a petrol station who ended up with empty baggie that held her #partydrugs stuck to her back as she fills up the car. Registration mark of car in full view.
To be fair some lads *did* point out sharing the video could be problematic, but *no-one* picked up on the fact they've essentially grassed her up for potential #DUI (any cop or bootlicker now has her vehicle number plate)

LB: These #nitazenes are even finding its way into the #partydrugs used at #raves and #festivals (where #opiates are generally unpopular) and its leading to fatalities (my friends told me about one case at a prominent UK festival just last year, a young man who would not normally touch opiates was killed)

also an anecdotal (but plausible) claim on a #Facebook ravers group that #fentanyl occasionally is turning up in #ketamine even in UK.
As the stuff sells for a premium price on its own its not unlikely this is accidental contamination rather than any deliberate conspiracy (folk generally /don't/ take the risk of decades in #prison for dealing just to kill their customers), but it also shows #partydrugs and "hard" #drugs distribution networks are increasingly crossing over..

This is worrying, a *second* generation of young #drug users suffering serious and irreversible medical conditions due to #addiction to #ketamine (there was a similar wave of these incidents in the late 90s to late 00s, especially as K is a lucrative "cash crop" for small time dealers (it basically funded the underground rave scene in the 2000s and kept it going, as even if dealers were caught, penalties were less than other #partydrugs (which are mostly class A)

Its funny, but I hope they are sober now if they going to play pranks like this - there's a non zero chance they may encounter an ex-raver turned bootlicker in HR who makes them piss into a cup, or a colleague anonymously grasses up their car details to the old bill so they get a random swab check (those names suggest possibly 20 years of usage!) #MDMA #drugs #partydrugs #raves

I still remember how both BBC and commercial radio was very wary of encouraging the #rave scene in the early 90s (although it changed by late 90s). Interestingly there was way more #drugs on that scene but relatively little #violence, until UK Garage started getting popular and there was more emphasis on #fashion #bling and #money (and #alcohol made a resurgence on top of #partydrugs) compared to just partying and having a good time...
