  2. I'm happy to stumble on this #vdot report on pedestrian safety from a few years ago. I haven't read the whole thing, but a quick review makes it look reasonable, grounded in data, and based on the real world. I heard some troubling things last night at the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission board meeting about possible changes to Virginia's SMART SCALE transportation funding system, cutting the annual application limit in half and potentially reducing funding for bicycle and pedestrian safety.
