I have wanted a long oven to heat tubes up in for quite some time. Such an oven would only need to get to about 800 F.
This oven would make it really easy to burn the binder out of small batches of my custom coated tubes. It also would allow me to evenly heat all sides of the crackle tubes and also bombard them- making them super clean. I could get the crackle tubes hotter with this oven.
Since there is money in the crackle tube job- and a desire for cleaner, longer lasting tubes- the oven now has legs! For under $400 I was able to create an oven that gets up to 800 F in a matter of minutes! The only drawback- at about 750 F the CNCd MDF board I have the three heat guns shoved into starts smoking a bunch and catches fire
Currently looking into inexpensive, machine-able materials I can make a fire proof lid out of. I want Marinite, but it's hard to get. Vermiculite, or Drywall may be the winners, but I am open to suggestions?
