  2. Saw my first blooming Monument Plant yesterday; so incredible. I’d only ever seen the rosettes of leaves and the dessicated plants from the previous year, but I missed the blooms last year. Once I saw what they looked like in bloom I knew I had to stake some out this year and make sure I saw it. The Temple provided the perfect place 🙏🏻

    They are monocarpic — the plant grows as a rosette for years before it finally blooms once and dies. The flower stalks can reach 6 feet high.
