  6. #BathME - Last #RepairCafé of the year!

    August 8, 2026
    10:00 AM - 12:30 PM

    #PattenFreeLibrary
33 Summer St, Bath, ME 04530

"Why replace when you can repair? Our expert volunteers will help repair your electronics, lamps, furniture, jewelry and small appliances; mend clothing, and sharpen tools.

If we are unable to repair your item we will make suggestions on where you can find the parts and learn how to do the repair or have it professionally repaired. This is a first come, first served program and depending on the turnout we can’t guarantee we will be able to help everyone or repair every item. Please bring your items with you to the library.

Presented in partnership with the #CurtisMemorialLibrary, #HabitatForHumanity #ReStore, and #Merrymeeting Community and Adult Education. Repair Café will rotate between locations."

  26. So, many years ago, my colleagues at the #WildernessSchool had permission to pick blueberries at the #BlueberryBarrens at #CrystalSpringFarms, and also foraged in the surrounding areas. It's a lovely place and I'm so glad that it's being preserved -- despite all the development in #Maine!

Summer Four Season Walk at Crystal Spring Farm

    Tuesday, July 21, 2026
    3:00 PM to 5:00 PM

    Crystal Spring Farm
    277 Pleasant Hill Road
    #BrunswickME, 04011 United States

    Pre-registration required. Suggested donation $5-$20.

"Come walk the trails at Crystal Spring Farm in Brunswick as we get to know #NativePlants in summer.

Four season walks are a popular series and a staff favorite: each year, we pick a new location, and then take the same walk, once per season. We will all engage in observing and asking questions of our surroundings, and identify the varied plants, shrubs, trees, ferns, and wildlife along the trail. Each season brings something new and spectacular to look at. The goal of these walks is to foster relationships with place through relationships with plants, and encourage further #stewardship of our community spaces. Crystal Spring is home to a lovely blueberry barren #ecosystem that we look forward to visiting together. Thank you to #BrunswickTopshamLandTrust for hosting us!"

  31. #CamdenME - Mid-Season Herb Walk with Denise DeSpirito

    July 28 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

"Please join Denise DeSpirito for a mid-season herb garden tour to see what is growing. A great way to learn plants is to see them in each phase of their growth. In this mid-season herb garden walk we will talk about plants in bloom that are catching our eye, what to gather now and how to collect and preserve it for the year ahead. This talk takes place entirely in the herb garden and participants are welcome to bring questions about their own gardens.

Attendance is free for members; $10 for non-members.

Merryspring is your community nature center offering walking trails, cultivated gardens, wildlife, and ecology and horticulture educational programs all year round. The park is located at the end of Conway Road, just off of Route 1 in Camden behind Hannaford Shopping Plaza."

    July 25 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Cost is $70 for Merryspring members; $80 for non-members
    Pre-registration is required

"Greg Marley will lead an outdoor presentation on Foraging Edible and Medicinal Mushrooms at Merryspring Nature Center on Saturday, July 25 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Everyone is fascinated by wild mushrooms. From foraging and eating, to medicinal use and the use of psychedelics to improve creativity and address depression. The only thing standing in the way is acquiring the knowledge and confidence to tell the good mushrooms from those that can sicken you. The good news is that there are a handful of common, easily identified, great edibles or medicinals that can satisfy most peoples hunger for mushrooms. Maine is home to a number of world-class edible mushrooms easily found as you enjoy a walk through the woods and fields.

This day-long class helps to build the basic knowledge needed to identify common mushrooms and to begin a lifetime of wild mushrooming. The class will combine indoor lecture and outdoor experience in the forest to explore identification features, ecology and the seasonal occurrence of mushrooms. We will look at edible as well as common poisonous mushrooms and may end the day by cooking some of the mushrooms we find. Learn a few common edible and medicinal mushrooms and build skills to identify more."
