Getting off the Downeaster
I was sad our train didn’t have the Downeaster livery
But oh my gosh all the conductors (just two actually) were so nice to us. They directed us which car bikes should go on the platform; they told us how and even helped my friend hands-on to put her bike up on the rack and secured it. We didn’t have to take off any of our front wheels because our bikes are small and they don’t stick out. I forgot to take a pic of it which would be really helpful for anyone that is looking to bring bike on this train in the future.
They remembered us and moved my friends’ tabs (the paper thing they put around the seat after scanning the tickets) to where we sit - so each train car can only accommodate one bike so our bikes were in 3 cars but we sit together. As a matter of fact, he didn’t even scan my ticket - he trusted us. That felt nice ;)
They remembered our destination. One of them came by to let us know our destination was the next and we should start getting bikes off the rack. The whole train journey was so nice - why can’t we run more trains in this country? 🥹

"#Kennebunkport officials have issued an advisory, asking people to avoid swimming and other water-based activities in the Batson and Little rivers at #GooseRocksBeach.
"Officials say in addition to repeated results showing human bacteria in the Batson and Little rivers, the most recent testing has shown elevated levels of #enterococci bacteria in these rivers.
"The town says they have increased their weekly testing at the Batson and Little river sites to twice weekly.
"Earlier this month, another advisory was issued for the #KennebunkRiver. The town's #wastewater treatment facility has not been working properly and they had no choice but to put the partially treated waste into the Kennebunk River."
