5/ Penny's peach tree is in distress. Not sure what is going on. We just had a week of very heavy rain and before that a week of extreme heat which we are back to. :(
Too much water, not enough water, heat, fungus?
The Peach leaf curl makes me think fungus.... You can tell it, esp in image 2
Really would like some thoughts... #Trees #Peach #Gardening #tree #Dendrology #xylology

We've had so much rain over the last few weeks - total, not single huge deluges like Edmonton - that the city hasn't even needed to fill the tree-diapers on the more-recently-planted trees.
Is there a word for those things? Diaper is kinda the opposite of what they're intended to do.

Mongabay: New database captures urban tree diversity. “These are trees lining pavements, planted in orchards and in farm woodlots. Little is known, however, about the diversity of these trees — particularly in rapidly urbanising regions at risk of developing urban heat island effects in the summer. A new database capturing India’s urban tree diversity attempts to bridge this gap.”

don’t conflate evergreen and deciduous trees with angiosperms (or, flowering trees) and conifers (or, cone-bearing) trees—at least in the temperate north.
american holly is a great example: it is a flowering evergreen tree

Ok, #botany and #dendrology people, could I ask you for verification of the claims made in this video, about the spiral path of juices traveling through a tree?
Honestly I love Andrew Millison #permaculture videos but this video... This video triggers my bullshit detector. There's nothing outrageous here but it just gives this cultist vibe of hidden symbolism. I would really hate it if it turned out permaculture was bs. I really want it not to be.
