Fishers operating off the coast of Sulawesi, Indonesia, are detonating more than 8,000 underwater explosives each year, researchers estimate. The practice is turning picturesque coral reefs to “rubble.” Read more on E360 →

In the supermarket, shelves are bare, with large signs reading: no leafy #vegetables, no #lettuces. The #crops are scorched by the sun or didn't grow at all due to the #droughts and extreme #heat. #Fruit is more expensive than ever. Too hot, too dry, or destroyed by extremely big hail. Even a simple baguette is again 10 cents more expensive (wheat failures).

By the way, climate researchers consistently say that this region of NYS is probably better set up to deal with climate disruptions than most places in the USA. If that's something you have on your mind. For some reason.

One thing I've always found irksome in the whole individual/consumer responsability vs producers in the climate debate, is that it's a looping argument.
Sure, we can't count on all individuals to stop eating meat by themselves, but all individuals will have to stop eating meat at some point. It's no reason to avoid doing the correct thing.

Zwischen "ich schmelze!" und "kann ich die Heizung schon an machen?" waren jetzt ja immerhin ein paar angenehme Tage.

How many people need to die (or be at risk of dying) before it can be considered catastrophical? A million? A billion?
Just asking.

Food production isn't just a single step but an occupation that is involved with many steps like land preparations.
We are also preparing this land for garden eggs that will help fight hunger in some days to come!
Gardening is the planting food but full of hope to many vulnerable families in Central Uganda

On a vast network of rivers flowing through the jungles of Papua New Guinea, researchers have rediscovered the spinach pipefish, a relative of the seahorse, which had not been recorded in more than 40 years. The fish has long been sought after by conservationists, who feared it had gone extinct. Read more on E360 →

Israel destroyed 98.5% of Gaza’s farmland. Before the genocide, Gazans grew 115% of their own vegetables needed for local consumption.
The fundraiser below is to establish new small plots. They need help with purchasing irrigation systems, fertilizer etc.

Last season, we grew maize and today, that harvest is helping feed 100 young people in schools who once went without meals. With your support for our land fundraiser, we can grow this impact further, reaching even more vulnerable families in our communities. Together, we can turn land into hope, food, and opportunity https://gofund.me/8da0ff4a0

"In July, research by Greenpeace UK found that 2.87bn litres of water, enough to fill 1,150 Olympic-sized swimming pools, are lost from leaky pipes in England and Wales every day. "
But sure, let's launch propaganda campaigns telling Muslims to use less water for _wudu_ and Asians to rinse their rice less.
