  1. New survey from research firm Gartner asked 350 global business executives whose companies are pulling in at least $1 billion annually - ARE AI layoffs paying off in the real world - or stated another way are AI layoffs actually resulting in positive business outcomes?

The Results: Organizations that slashed staff to invest in AI have seen the same financial gains as those who held onto their employees. In other words, attempting to replace workers with AI isn’t showing any detectable returns for these companies.

Another study by MIT last year found that AI is failing to generate meaningful revenue growth at the vast majority of companies that embrace it. (this data may be a bit dated at this point)

What is WORKING? >> companies leveraging AI as “people amplification” — meaning they give their employees AI tools to boost efficiency, instead of replacing them outright — ARE seeing the most significant gains. futurism.com/artificial-intell

  3. Resulting from funding gaps and idiotic shifts in priorities the U.S.A. is now woefully under investing in our core CyberDefense Ecosystem....

National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is no longer enhancing all Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs) with analysis and severity indicators, and instead NIST will prioritize enriching a much narrower set of security vulnerabilities.

Related: In April 2025, a funding gap by in DHS appropriations threatened to cease CVE operations entirely —which would have creating systemic risk for global vulnerability management. An emergency funding extension was implemented to avoid a full on crisis. justsecurity.org/136914/nist-c

  12. The NTSB investigated two fatal 2024 crashes involving vehicles using Ford Motor Company’s hands-free partial automation system, BlueCruise, failed to stop for stationary vehicles.

The NTSB concluded that the drivers’ over reliance on the automated system contributed to both crashes. The driver monitoring systems were also found to be ineffective at detecting driver distraction or disengagement.

The NTSB called out that there are no federal requirements for these systems to record data during crashes, which often means that manufacturers lack information to comply with NHTSA’s standing general order requiring them to report crashes involving this technology.

  20. Maduro has possible legal challenges – likely long shots – we will see at some point.

    1) Head of State and Official Acts Immunity – provides that the current head of a foreign state may not be tried either criminally or civilly in a US court. The question = Maduro a “current head of a foreign state”.

    2) Official Acts Immunity – Maduro may claim the accused illegal acts were official conduct and those cannot be prosecuted. Will the Courts accept the executive branch’s assertion that the activities are not “official” acts. The Supreme Court has yet to resolve this and have characterized it as “thorny” question.

    3) Venue – Current law states that defendants from other countries must be tried “in the district in which the offender ... is arrested or first brought”. Before arriving in New York State, there was a stop in Guantanamo Bay. Maduro could argue he was not “first brought” to SDNY, therefore the case is null.

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) announced that Changan Automobile and BAIC were given the go-ahead to build L3 autonomous electric vehicles (EVs) that would allow drivers to be hands off in some circumstances.

  24. Contents of the letters that Attorney General Pam Bondi sent to major tech companies like including Apple, Google, and Oracle claim a shutdown of TikTok would hamper the government's ability to execute national security and foreign affairs. Legal scholars indicate this logic is legally very shaky and future administrations would likely not be bound by these pronouncements.

TikTok's tech partners face massive legal risks by relying on Bondi's promises not to enforce the ban law, as courts rarely protect defendants who count on executive non-enforcement.

  25. Good luck resolving all this Crypto stuff!

U.S. House of Representatives indicate they will consider 3 crypto bills July 14-18 in "Crypto Week". A crypto market structure bill, a stablecoin bill and a bill on central bank digital currencies (CBDCs).

Key issue to resolve = differences between the GENIUS and STABLE Acts, namely oversight. The STABLE Act stipulates strict federal oversight of stablecoin issuers while the GENIUS Act allows for state supervision.

They will attempt to clarify the jurisdiction SEC vs. CFTC have over crypto and clarify registration, disclosure, customer asset segregation and record keeping rules. cointelegraph.com/news/us-repu
