  1. Weekend Reading from TechAptitude!

Get to know new Cryptography Standards (FIPS 20-3, FIPS 204, FIPS 205, FIPS 206) developed by NIST to withstand quantum attacks and prevent the so-called β€œQ-Day”. Q-Day is an estimate of the point in time when quantum computers will be able to reliably break existing RSA-2048 cryptography. techaptitude.substack.com/p/qu #PQC #NIST #Cryptography #Q_Day #PostQuantumCryptography #Quantum #Encryption #CryptographyAlgorithms #TechAptitude

  6. Weekend Reading!

Someone at META FINALLY has seen the light in the VR tunnel and it is a dead train.

Meta recently announced starting on June 15, 2026, it will no longer be possible to build, publish or update VR worlds, and Horizon Worlds will not be accessible with VR headsets - the spaces will continue to be be available via the Horizon mobile app only.

This comes just a few weeks after Meta cut over 1,000 employees from Reality Labs, the unit responsible for the metaverse. cnbc.com/2026/03/18/meta-horiz

In 2018, I first wrote about how dedicated "VR Worlds" would be a #Fail and would be destined to be highly niche products and NOT be the world changing tech as claimed by proponents.

  7. Space Development Agency (SDA) cops to issues with scaling its Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA). The agency is grappling with a 2-3 month schedule slip. Core issues include:

Satellite Contact Failures: SDA and its vendors have struggled with the on-orbit checkout process – aka an inability to establish contact with one of its satellites launched in late 2025.

Component Scarcity: Sustained shortages of optical communications terminals (OCTs) and encryption devices continue to serve as the β€œcritical path” for all vendors.

Launch Schedule Pressure: The next scheduled mission, T1TL-A, is ~ 4 months behind schedule due to the 45-day government shutdown, a launch rocket tech glitz, and issues with onboard software for satellites. satnews.com/2026/03/08/space-d

  8. Laser’s in Space!

The U.S. Space Development Agency (SDA) is building the next generation optical/laser based mesh network across hundreds of satellites in low earth orbit to provide highly secure low-latency communications and missile defense.

  9. It is a matter of time before Quantum Computing gains the ability to crack today’s core public key encryption methods.

Our latest post on TechAptitude outlines the efforts by NIST to generate new cryptography standards to help withstand future quantum powered cyber attacks. Check it out!
