La mayoría recuerda a Anna Nicole Smith como “la modelo Playboy que se casó con un multimillonario anciano”.
Y ya.
Como si toda su vida pudiera resumirse en un chiste cruel repetido durante años en televisión.Pero cuanto más miras su historia completa, más incómoda se vuelve.
Anna Nicole nació como Vickie Lynn Hogan en 1967, en Houston, Texas, aunque creció en un pequeño pueblo llamado Mexia.
Su infancia estuvo muy lejos del glamour.
Su padre abandonó a la familia cuando era pequeña y fue criada prácticamente por su madre y su tía en un entorno humilde.
Ella misma contó varias veces que sufrió bullying en el colegio y que nunca se sintió especialmente inteligente ni aceptada.Dejó los estudios siendo adolescente y empezó a trabajar donde podía para sobrevivir.
Uno de sus primeros empleos fue en una cadena de pollo frito llamada Jim’s Krispy Fried Chicken.
Allí conoció a Billy Wayne Smith, un cocinero con el que se casó cuando tenía solo 17 años.
Poco después nació su hijo Daniel.Ese matrimonio duró muy poco.
Anna se encontró joven, pobre, con un bebé y sin demasiadas opciones.
Ahí empieza la parte de la historia que mucha gente usa para juzgarla sin intentar entender el contexto.Entró a trabajar como stripper en Houston, en un club llamado Gigi’s.
Y fue allí donde conoció a J. Howard Marshall II.Marshall no era simplemente un anciano rico cualquiera.
Era uno de los hombres más poderosos del petróleo en Estados Unidos, abogado, empresario y multimillonario.
Tenía casi 90 años cuando Anna lo conoció.
Ella apenas pasaba de los 20.Y sí, la diferencia de edad era enorme y extraña incluso para la época.
Pero la relación fue bastante más compleja de lo que vendieron los tabloides.Marshall quedó fascinado con ella.
Le daba regalos carísimos, joyas, apartamentos, dinero y atención constante.
Varias personas cercanas aseguraban que él estaba profundamente enamorado y que Anna le hacía sentirse vivo otra vez.
Ella, por su parte, encontraba en él algo que había tenido muy poco en su vida: seguridad.Muchos dijeron que todo fue interés económico.
Probablemente el dinero influyó, sería ingenuo negarlo.
Pero también hay que entender de dónde venía ella: pobreza, inseguridad, abandono y trabajos donde literalmente su cuerpo era parte del negocio.
La idea de estabilidad económica para alguien así no era un detalle menor.Mientras seguía viendo a Marshall, Anna intentó entrar en el mundo del modelaje.
Y ahí ocurrió algo inesperado.
Mandó unas fotos a Playboy en 1992 y Hugh Hefner quedó impresionado.
Anna tenía una imagen muy concreta que encajaba perfectamente con lo que Playboy buscaba en aquella época: curvas exageradas, apariencia inocente y un aire de “rubia clásica americana” que recordaba muchísimo a Marilyn Monroe.Primero fue Playmate del mes.
Después, Playmate del Año en 1993.
Eso le cambió la vida completamente.
Playboy la convirtió en una celebridad internacional.
Hefner la adoraba porque representaba ese ideal de bomba sexual ingenua que tanto vendía en los noventa.
Pero al mismo tiempo, esa imagen empezó a comérsela viva.
Todo el mundo veía el personaje antes que a la persona.Luego llegó Guess.
La marca la eligió como imagen principal de sus campañas y aquello explotó todavía más.
Sus fotografías gigantes aparecieron por todo Estados Unidos.
Muchos la comparaban directamente con Claudia Schiffer o con la propia Marilyn Monroe.
Era imposible no verla en revistas, anuncios o televisión.Pero incluso en su mejor momento, Anna parecía vivir siempre al borde del caos.
Tenía inseguridades enormes.
Sufría ansiedad.
Subía y bajaba de peso constantemente y la prensa era despiadada con ella.
Cuando estaba delgada era “la nueva Marilyn”.
Cuando engordaba unos kilos, los programas de televisión la humillaban públicamente.En 1994 finalmente se casó con Howard Marshall.
Ella tenía 26 años.
Él, 89.
La boda fue un escándalo nacional.
Los chistes eran constantes.
Muchísima gente hablaba de ella como si fuera poco más que una prostituta de lujo.
Casi nadie se preguntaba por qué un hombre multimillonario de casi noventa años también había tomado esa decisión.La culpa parecía recaer solo sobre ella.
Y lo más llamativo es que Marshall murió poco después, apenas 14 meses más tarde.
Entonces comenzó una guerra brutal por la herencia.
Anna aseguraba que él le había prometido parte de su fortuna.
La familia de Marshall, especialmente su hijo E. Pierce Marshall, la acusó de manipuladora y oportunista.
El caso se convirtió en un circo mediático y duró más de una década. Incluso llegó al Tribunal Supremo de Estados Unidos.Pero mientras los abogados peleaban, la vida de Anna se iba destruyendo poco a poco.
En los años 2000 apareció en reality shows donde ya se veía claramente deteriorada.
Mucha gente se reía de ella porque hablaba lento, parecía desorientada o actuaba de forma errática.
Viéndolo hoy resulta bastante duro, porque era evidente que había problemas serios detrás: dependencia de medicamentos, salud mental deteriorada y un entorno lleno de gente aprovechándose de ella.Su relación con el dolor físico también empeoró después de varias operaciones estéticas.
Tomaba calmantes, sedantes y otros medicamentos recetados mezclados entre sí.
Y alrededor suyo había médicos, abogados y asistentes viviendo prácticamente de ella.Pero nada la destruyó tanto como la muerte de su hijo Daniel.
En septiembre de 2006, Daniel murió de una sobredosis accidental a los 20 años en la habitación del hospital donde Anna acababa de dar a luz a su hija Dannielynn en Bahamas.
El chico murió literalmente a pocos metros de ella.
Eso la rompió por completo.
Testigos cercanos dijeron que después de aquello Anna parecía una persona distinta.
Entró en una espiral todavía peor de dependencia emocional y medicamentos.Cinco meses después, el 8 de febrero de 2007, fue encontrada inconsciente en una habitación de hotel en Florida.
Murió por una sobredosis accidental causada por una combinación de medicamentos prescritos.
Tenía solo 39 años.Y aun así, incluso después de morir, el circo continuó.
Hubo peleas públicas por la custodia de su hija, disputas sobre quién era el verdadero padre y programas de televisión explotando cada detalle de su muerte.
Eso quizá es lo más triste de toda su historia.
Anna Nicole Smith pasó años siendo observada como entretenimiento mientras claramente se estaba derrumbando delante de todo el mundo.
La prensa la sexualizó, luego la ridiculizó y finalmente convirtió su caída en espectáculo.No fue una santa.
Tampoco una víctima perfecta.
Tomó decisiones discutibles, vivió rodeada de excesos y participó del mismo mundo superficial que terminó destruyéndola.Pero reducir toda su vida a “una rubia que se casó con un viejo rico” es no entender nada.
Porque detrás del personaje había una mujer criada en pobreza, obsesionada con sentirse querida, utilizada por industrias enteras y atrapada en un sistema donde mientras generara titulares nadie iba a preocuparse realmente por ella.
Y cuando dejó de ser rentable, simplemente la dejaron caer.

Here in the Philippines, there was a lot of pre-release buzz that Manila would appear in the movie and so many local film buffs got excited. #10 Shallow Focus is a Disease in Movies – There is a new trend that has influence the production of movies in Hollywood (AKA Commiewood) for many years now and it has literally become a disease which made the viewing of movies undesirable. The disease is shallow focus which occurs when the area of sharpness in front of a camera lens is very narrow which results in blurry backgrounds. Shallow focus is being abused in modern-day filmmaking and it is only getting worse.
