Lo curioso de la queja era que los televidentes afirmaban que el acento de Shaughnessy se escuchaba muy falso y forzado en comparación con el del mayordomo, ignorando por completo la ironía de la situación, ya que Charles Shaughnessy sí había nacido en Londres y era un británico legítimo, mientras que el mayordomo que todos alababan como inglés real era un estadounidense de cepa que simplemente estaba entregando una de las actuaciones más memorables de la televisión.
