Academy Award nominated ***Raise the Red Lantern*** will be released to theatres in a 35th anniversary 4K remastered version this November!
Gong Li’s performance and the entire film warrants this. It’s been my personal benchmark for period films since I first saw it in the 1990s.
I have no idea whether it will run near me, but it will surely be available on one of the major streamers, and hopefully a remastered disc release to replace the old DVDs.
