John Wayne – „Der Marshal“ (1969)

Western sind kein Ort für Zweifel. Das Genre lebt von der Klarheit, und sei es unter Staubwolken und Blei. Dieser Film passt in diese Schablone und ist doch eigentlich größer. Die Geschichte ist simpel genug, um in jede Pulp-Anthologie der 50er zu passen. Aber die Verfilmung trägt eben die Patina der Zeit, in der der klassische Studio-Western schon auf der Zielgeraden war. New-Hollywood stand schon vor der Tür, doch Hathaway blieb noch bei der alten Rezeptur. (ARD)

Is there any horror sequel more interesting than The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2? I doubt it. It's a large departure from the original that makes it a target of detractors but also sets the stage for pretty much what to expect for the rest of the franchise's history.
