TIL: “Skype For Business” is not really possible on Linux PC in 2023. There is no native built. It’s “Web App” requires a plugin that comes with an MSI installer. Not that it really matters, since it’s superseded by “Teams”. In theory.
So if you need it anyway you’re not really looking for “Skype”, that may sound similar but has nothing to do with “Skype For Business”, but for “Lync”. Did I say “Lync”? I meant “Office Communicator”. And if you do you’re in luck. There is a Pidgin plugin called “Sipe” which does that. In theory. I couldn’t get it to sign in because my “Office 365” account, that supersedes the BPOS (Microsoft Business Productivity Online Suite), has no more “Office Communicator” or “Lync” or “Skype for Business”. It does have “Teams” and to add insult to injury also “Skype”.
There is however an Android app “Skype for Business” and lo and behold it’s on API Level 30 from 2020 so chances are good that it works on most recent devices (it will request all permissions though and refuse to start without). And while I still have no account for this, or the possibility to create one, since Microsoft simply redirects me to “Teams”, I can now open an invitation link in a browser which in turn opens the app again where I now get the previous unavailable option to _join as guest_.
Stay tuned if it picks up the microphone too as there is no speech indicator and no echo chamber to test this. At least video seemed to work fine.
(And hell no I will not even try that with a Google Chrome Brower EXE in Wine)

Kaum zu glauben, aber wir nutzen #Skype tatsächlich noch täglich – vor allem für unseren Redaktions-Chat. Bisher gab es keinen Grund, die Plattform zu wechseln, sei es aus Bequemlichkeit oder einfach, weil es schon immer so war. Doch schon bald könnten wir dazu gezwungen sein, auf andere Dienste umzusteigen. Laut der Webseite #XDADevelopers steht die Abschaltung von Skype offenbar kurz bevor.

On Twitter, Heimbach has referred to Putin as the
“best European leaders [sic] of the 21st century,”
claiming that Russia, under Putin, has demonstrated a
“rediscovered purpose of supporting Tradition, Christianity, and identity.”Heimbach has peppered his tweets with #HailPutin and #PutinForTsar hashtags,
and, in 2015, led a rally in which Confederate and Russian Imperial flags flew side by side.He has further tweeted out photos of Confederate and Russian flags paired together,

the fanciful political entity Russian-backed separatists have attempted to create in eastern Ukraine.Heimbach has even called Russia the white nationalist movement’s

It is Heimbach’s conception of Russia as this “axis for nationalists” that has helped him collaborate with like-minded white nationalists in Europe.
He has conducted at least three tours of Europe,
meeting with far-right members of Greece’s Golden Dawn,
Romania’s New Right,
and Germany’s National Democratic Party, among others.In the fall of 2016, Heimbach planned his first visit to Russia,
seeking to attend the World National Conservative Movement conference,
a reprise of the 2015 conference attended by Taylor and Dickson.The organization behind the conference, again, was the "Russian Imperial Movement".
This group, an outgrowth of Rogozin’s efforts, describes its ideology as
“Christian Orthodox imperial nationalism.”Its stated goals include dissolving both the EU and NATO.

—one of whom was funded by ultra-Orthodox oligarch #Konstantin #Malofeev,

“a broad coalition of all ethno-nationalists
—all nationalists that reject neoliberalism,

One person who has taken note of Heimbach’s work is, unsurprisingly, Dugin.
In 2015, at the official unveiling of the "Traditionalist Worker Party", Heimbach managed to host a Skyped-in speech from Dugin,

Yes, a real pity it is no longer supported by its creator due Microsoft apparently taking his code and rebranding for their own use (yes it is a MIT license, but it's amazing how Big Tech can just take without giving back, but don't you dare take from them...).
I had to urgently find a SIMPLE screen recorder in a hurry as my meeting had started online, and I had to use Windows OS (some issue with Skype for Business not starting on Linux). So gone were my normal Linux simple recorders. Everything I found on a search for Windows limited to 10 mins recording, or had watermarks, or no computer output sound source, etc.
But wow Captura ticked all the boxes with full screen or region of screen, choice of one or more audio recordings, FPS rate, mouse clicks, key strokes, portable build, etc in a simple interface. All I did have to do was download FFMPEG, and point Captura it to the binary file.

Hunger Strike Statement
My name is Maja. I was illegally extradited to Hungary almost a year ago. Since then, I have been held here in inhumane prolonged solitary confinement. Yesterday, on 4 June 2025, a decision was supposed to be made about my petition to be transferred to house arrest. That decision was postponed. My prior petitions to be transferred to house arrest have been rejected. I am no longer willing to endure this unbearable situation and wait for decisions from a judiciary that has systematically violated my rights again and again in recent months. For that reason, I am beginning a hunger strike today, 5 June 2025. I demand to be transferred back to Germany, to be able to return to my family, and to be able to participate in the trial in Hungary from my home.
I can no longer tolerate the prison conditions in Hungary. My cell was under 24-hour video surveillance for more than three months. For over seven months, I had to wear handcuffs any time I was outside my cell and sometimes inside my cell too, regardless of whether I was buying things, having Skype calls, or meeting with visitors. Officers conduct hourly visual inspections in my cell, including at night, which always means turning the lights on. I have to submit to body searches, during which I have to undress completely. Visits happened in separate rooms where a screen separated me from my family members, lawyers, and official representatives. The officers have left my cell in complete chaos after cell checks. The architecture prevents me from seeing sufficient daylight. The tiny courtyard is made of concrete and there is a grate across the top of it. I cannot control the temperature of the water in the shower. My cell is continuously overrun by bedbugs and cockroaches. I am not sufficiently provided with balanced and fresh food.
Additionally, I am in prolonged solitary confinement. No contact with other prisoners was possible at all for almost six months. Even now, I see and hear other people for less than an hour per day. This permanent deprivation of human contact is deliberately meant to do mental and bodily harm. That is why the European Prison Rules provide for “at least two hours of meaningful human contact a day”. That is why “prolonged solitary confinement” – the confinement of a prisoner for at least 22 hours a day for more than 15 days – is considered inhumane treatment or torture according to the Nelson Mandela Rules adopted by the United Nations. Here in Hungary, I have been buried alive in a prison cell, and this pre-trial detention can last up to three years in Hungary.
For these reasons, I should never have been extradited to Hungary. The Berlin court of appeals and the Special Commission “Linx” of the State Office of Criminal Investigations in Saxony[1] planned and executed my extradition and in doing so very deliberately circumvented my lawyers and the Federal Constitutional Court of Germany. On 28 June 2024, a few hours after my instant-extradition, the Constitutional Court ruled that I could not be extradited for the time being. On 6 February 2025, it ruled that my extradition was illegal. To date, no one who took part in it has been held accountable. Thus far, there have been no reparations for me.
I would like my hunger strike to be a warning that no one else should be extradited to Hungary. Right now, that regard needs to go above all to Zaid from Nuremberg, who is very acutely under threat of extradition to Hungary. I declare my solidarity with all antifascists who are being prosecuted in the Budapest proceedings.
