Seven Lead Guitar Heroes of Alt/Indie Rock in 2026

This post is not written about guitar legends like Slash, Jimmy Page, Joe Perry, Jonny Greenwood, Eddie Van Halen, Nancy Wilson, and other past titans of rock. Instead, it highlights the amazing lead guitar heroes of 2026 who shred their strings with the very best of them throughout rock history. Most exciting about this list is how many women are included…not something that could have been said in most previous musical eras.

Listed below in alphabetical order are the seven legendary lead guitarists of today. If you have any additions or suggestions for this list, please feel free to forward them.

Deep Sea Diver - Impossible Weight

Speaking of "bands that should be better known" (although, admittedly, not unknown), Jessica Dobson's band Deep Sea Diver.

Dobson's guitar skills are well known, and she's toured with a bunch of other bands (Beck, The Shins, Conor Oberst, etc).

This was their third album, just before they jumped to Sub Pop for the most recent.
