  1. #RadioCaroline has lost programme audio altogether and is transmitting dead air now (more likely due to the ropey LTE connectivity across East Anglia - nowadays they use a 15cm LTE antenna hidden in the mast of the Ross Revenge (they aren't allowed to use the TX thats on there and I don't think it works anyway as PTT RCD NL ripped out a lot of the vital parts during the 1990 raid - I think RDI (Rijksinspectie Digitale Infrastructuur) literally only returned them last year...

  2. Anyone else noticed audio on #RadioCaroline 648 kHz MF is slightly quieter and has less bass than previously?

I've found this both in the car and using standalone receivers and its been like that both from the studio based broadcasts and this weekend from #RossRevenge - maybe they've changed the #soundprocessing, a piece of equipment has failed somewhere or the RF power has been turned down to save electricity?

  7. When I get into a care home if they aren't playing 'Shine on Crazy Diamond' by #pinkfloyd in it's entirety, then I'm absconding.

  8. Listening to #RadioCaroline while doing some reading. 📻
No external antenna required tonight. Awesome!

  10. Good morning Friday people.

There's some great tunes on the Radio Caroline Top 15 this morning!

I'm going to the Tai Chi group Christmas lunch later.
By the time I get back our daughter should have arrived for an overnight stay - she's taking Sacha to a Christmas market tomorrow.
This means I've got to get the spare bedroom / cat's room shipshape this morning.

    Have a good Friday y'all

  11. Good morning all

I've got the house to myself (& the cat) until mid afternoon, so lots of jobs will at least get thought about - I'm leaving the cat in charge of strategic planning.

Lots of Pink Floyd on Radio Caroline's top 15 this morning which has been excellent.

I'm reeling from the suggestion by a reply guy that Europe might not actually be a single country - who knew? /s

It's wet and very cold here, no sign of snow thankfully.

Right - I need to think about tidying and loo cleaning. And I've got an order for another cake!
    So. Up and at 'em

Have a good snowless day (if that's your preference)

  12. Radio Caroline 📻 coming in super clear with this random wire.......but it's getting a little cold for this kind of setup 🧣🧥🧤

  13. What the bosses of #Laser558 ( #1980s #offshoreRadio station) said was at least mostly correct, but what they didn't admit to is funders included Philip Morris (yes, the #BigTobacco company! 🚬 ) - for decades offshore stations were seen as a way of getting round strict anti #tobacco ads rules on European radio) - eventually the EU started leaning on Laser, PM pulled the funding and they closed down not long afterwards ( #RadioCaroline took over the 558 kHz frequency)

  14. It’s going to be a while before I find a QSL card for my #VintageQSLcard collection that I prize more highly than this one: A Radio Caroline QSL card postmarked 1967. #RadioHistory #QSLcard #RadioCaroline #Radio #PirateRadio #PirateRadioStation #AMradio #KE0FFTpirateRadio #KE0FFT

  15. #Coomber PA #radio #cassette recorder arrived today - it has a 8" twin cone speaker (originally intended for #school assembly halls), tape deck still works and a bonus is preset #MW tuner has not just 693 and 909 KHz but 648 KHz (BBC World Service) so its perfect for #RadioCaroline

#sound is mono and not quite hifi (there's a bit of hiss), but a decent amount of volume.

Will make aux input cable for it tomorrow when my DIN plugs arrive (haven't soldered one for 30+ years!)

  20. Visting my relatives in #Caversham again and listening to #RadioCaroline on the #Philips D-2122 #receiver from #Malaysia before bed - some QRM from a Spanish PSB and fading, but the 648 KHz signal from #Orfordness is getting across 186 km #radio #AM #MW

  21. Got back home around 16:20 today after a 2,5 hour drive (interestingly my satnav led me through Oxfordshire and the Chilterns (a slightly more scenic drive) via the M40 for the return journey, maybe M4 was congested (it gets real time traffic info via an LTE link). The signal from #RadioCaroline in the car was good even 200km away!

Incidentally EV's have *really* taken off in SE England villages, saw one after the other in #Sonning (not many Teslas though, lots of other makes)
