Die Regierung von Alberta, Ottawa und 5 große Ölsandproduzenten haben eine Absichtserklärung unterzeichnet, um das milliardenschwere Kohlenstoffabscheidungs- und -speicherprojekt Pathways voranzutreiben.
Das Pathways-Projekt ist eine Bedingung für eine neue Ölsandpipeline an der Westküste die derzeit gebaut wird und würde dazu dienen, einen Teil der Kohlenstoffemissionen auszugleichen, die dadurch entstehen.

Smells like greenwashing to me. ‘Hydrogen-capable’, means it could burn hydrogen, but will it?And this:
The project's energy strategy is expected to incorporate hydrogen-rich fuel blends generated from natural gas resources
Which presumably relies on carbon capture during the cracking process to turn methane gas into H2 and CO2. #CCS so far has proved to be costly, energy-intensive and largely ineffective.

CCS being a complete scam, and The London Times once having been a newspaper.
To any extent that #CCS is a net-zero project (does anyone really think it is?) cutting funding for it and abolishing credit for it both seem entirely sensible if not overdue things to do.
(I'd make an exception for capturing atmospheric CO2 into thin sheets or even dust of Diamond. That would seem captured from where it causes trouble and fairly persistently stored)

Robert Socolow was a founder of the Carbon Mitigation Initiative of #Princeton University. He has articulated pathways to reduction of carbon dioxide emissions for minimizing climate change, especially the concept of climate stabilization wedge.
In his 2007 Senate testimony, Robert Socolow cited the proposed 500-MW H2 and #CCS project at BP's Carson refinery in California as evidence of the technology's commercial maturity. The project was highlighted as an example of a near-commercial, full-scale deployment effort.
