I was a Webex user from their very early days in the corporate space. I always had a fine experience. Then came Zoom and its explosion during the pandemic. And most companies running to MS Teams for meetings (including mine.) Zoom wasn't as polished and was kind of obnoxious in its early usability.
When I joined our nonprofit it was a Zoom org and I grew to tolerate it but always longed for pre-pandemic Webex. A year or so ago we lost our complimentary Zoom accounts from a sponsor. Webex was a little less expensive so we went with them.
WELL. For those who haven't used Webex in a handful of years, it's as obnoxious or worse than Zoom was in its early days. I'm so disappointed. This is a great example of Cisco buying something and hanging it out to dry.

@christophtill Thanks a bunch, Christoph, for the feedback! It takes a little time, indeed, getting used to it, but that's what I have decided to do for this entire month. To test it out for all of the Web meetings I host with different people and see how their user experience goes (and my own!) and from next month onwards it will be in full throttle, kissing good-bye to #Zoom, #MSTeams, #WebEx, etc. 👌🏻😎

A little while ago, I bumped into #alfaview as a potential replacement for my #Zoom, #MSTeams or #WebEx needs.
After last week's total disaster with my start of the 30-day free trial period due to an end-user error from yours truly🤦🏻, I'm now happy to report, for those who may be interested, that after several meetings held earlier on today, @alfaview is about to become my default Web meeting app! Yay! 🙌🏻😍🙌🏻

Earlier today, I had a brilliant demo of another Web conf. app hosted within the EU (Germany) that could certainly rival #Zoom #MSTeams or #WebEx.
It's called Together 👉🏻 https://together.biz/. Its main value proposition is to encourage real-time contextual collaboration through co-creation of social artefacts: documents (in different signed formats), PM tasks, action-items, etc. etc.
Ideal for small teams doing #DistributedWork

Föderalismus ist sicher ein Hindernis. Aber nachrangig.
Zentraler aber ist doch, dass schon die Grundidee, eine bundesweite Zielvorgabe sowie geeignete Rahmenbedingungen fehlen.Kann es sein, dass denjenigen, die an Schalthebeln sitzen, schon schlicht das Verständnis fehlt, um was es geht?
1. Was #Digitalisierung bedeutet und was es alles umfasst, und

Mit #Visio führt Frankreich seine #OpenSource-Videokonferenzen für Behörden ein. Bis 2027 sollen 200.000 Beamte unabhängig von US-Anbietern arbeiten können.
#Frankreich weitet seine souveräne Videokonferenzsoftware Visio auf alle staatlichen Dienste aus. Bis 2027 sollen rund 200.000 Beamte auf die Plattform umsteigen. Visio wird von der Direction Interministérielle du Numérique (#DINUM) entwickelt und soll die Abhängigkeit von außereuropäischen Anbietern wie #Microsoft #Teams, #Zoom, #GoogleMeet, #Webex und #GoTo Meeting beenden.
Der französische Vorstoß fügt sich in eine breitere europäische Bewegung für mehr digitale Souveränität ein. Das EU-Parlament forderte kürzlich eine Loslösung von US-Tech-Riesen und mehr Investitionen in heimische KI- und Open-Source-Anwendungen. -

Is @[email protected] #webex down in the EU, or DACH? I am supposed to be talking to people in Japan and they say it's working fine for them... is this about #davos? TBH I am not a webex fan, it seems to mess with files it shouldn't, or at least did seem to do that during COVID.

Versuch eine Videokonferenz mit einer Behörde durchzuführen. Auch diese Behörde blockt offensichtlich, wie schon andere, mit ihrer Firewall Verbindungen zu Jitsi-Servern. Und das freigeschaltete Behörden-Webex läuft ausschließlich mit der Webex-App, aber nicht per Browser oder Telefoneinwahl 🙄 Schade, dann wohl ohne mich...
