Jeanie y Al terminaron buscando algo distinto.

Muchos artistas eran utilizados y exhibidos cruelmente.

Y Jeanie y Al representan perfectamente esa contradicción.

    Solo Jeanie y Al.

  5. Who owns your phone, when you buy a new one? Easy answer would be: the person who bought the phone. But that's not completely true.

In UK we see that people who bought a new iPhone had to verify their age using their ID card to get unrestricted access to the device as David Bombal explains in this short.

We see that baselines are shifting, slowly. Once we are used to it, the next step is about to follow. Today it's age verification. C'mon, it doesn't hurt. It's done very quick, you only need your ID, once....

But what's next? The digital wallet is just around the corner. It will make everything so much easier, for everyone – including those who want to monitor us.

  8. #Satelliten: #Europa gegen #ElonMusk

  10. #PennedPossibilities 1167: If you have one, post a snippet involving spirits, such as a character talking to or about them.

Ok, literally conversing, in a novel named Walking Trees. The snippet is from a 2010 rewrite. Since I've changed how I write from 3rd person close to 1st person, I will rewrite this again. If you mentally imagine the passage in 1st person, you might sense I slipped out of close POV.

As for the setting, the government dissolved a few weeks ago and Dorie, the MC, is running for parliament. She has just returned from a debate against her opponent named Harrison.

    • Dorie is a peasant, but also a shaman, though not officially. She can't use the "Sh'" honorific her teacher Sh'Marie uses. One of her protector spirits is a leopard, whose characteristics she surfaced during the debate to intimidate her opponent. She has a second protector, too.
    • Kief is a love interest and a merchant.
    • Judd is her brother.
    • Umberie is an upper-class reporter and self-appointed biographer of Dorie's life.
    • Allie is a friend and a supporter of Dorie being a class-climber.

Dorie turned and paced to the window overlooking the street and the old cannery buildings beyond. The shellacked floor creaked.  The unseasonable heat had heralded an early wet mist that darkened the cement.  A man and a woman rushed toward Judd's building, collars held closed against the damp, splashing in the incipient puddles.

Gramaw's spirit sat on the edge of the windowsill in her daisy nightgown.  She looked disappointed.

"You're right I'm angry," Dorie said, facing away.

"Because we did so well?" Judd asked.  "Harrison completely misjudged you!"

"No," Allie said.  "It was [him saying], 'The whore sold herself'  Hey!"  She spread her hands at Dorie in a gesture of supplication.  "Leash your leopard eyes.  Harrison's r-r-remark, not mine."

Dorie shook her head.  "I don't understand how he thought he could get away with it.  He was convinced it was true, that I would stalk offstage!"

Kief said, "It looked like you might tear him to shreds."

She laughed, but only for a moment.  "Where did he get the idea that I might be selling myself?"  She faced her grandmother.  "You know, don't you?"  Sh'Marie said spirits could divine the unknown.

Her elder nodded.  "You do, too."

Judd said, "I wish you wouldn't do that." [Kief nodded.]

Dorie pointed.  "Gramaw's right there.  I have to speak aloud or she won't hear me.  Spirits, strangely enough, aren't mind readers."  The merchants had heard of all the stories of Dorie's protector spirits and of the USSU's acceptance of the phenomenon. [USSU is a shaman religious union.]  As a peasant, Judd ought to have been more accepting.

Judd sighed[, facing the chair beside the window where Gramaw sat, legs crossed].  "Right.  Gramaw, where'd Harrison get the idea from?"

Gramaw answered him, "Judd knows, too."  To Dorie, "Ask Umberie."

Dorie heard people walking up the steps in the hallway as she repeated, "Gramaw says you know, Judd."

    Judd looked shocked.  "I do?"

To Umberie, Dorie said, "Gramaw says I should ask you."

Umberie wore a monochromatic tan [trouser]suit with flair-bottoms.  It passed well as a peasant man's work suit when she stood, but lying [on the sofa], the diaphanous fabric clung like a sheath, outlining every curve of her slim body.  Umberie pointed her stylus at herself.  "Me?"

"Have I read everything you've written about me?"

She closed the pad.  "Actually, no." […]

"Who else have you interviewed, then?"

    "Your brother.  The current issue"

"Me?"  Judd nearly spilled his lemonade.  "I said no such th'!  I mentioned what mother said in the hospital..."

Umberie crossed her arms, [] eyes narrowed.  "I quoted him [discussing your mother].  I stated it was unfounded."

Gramaw said, "Bless my little girl, but sometimes I've wondered whether the midwife [hadn't] switched babies on me, or drop[ed] her on her head.  How your mother formed her version of normal female behavior with me [] as her mother, I can't rightly say."

Reconnecting with intensity of the characters and my anticipation for the ongoing story. My guess is that doubts have crept in, and that I'm not seeing them clearly enough that I can resolve them. I may have to put this story in the drawer. I'm wasting time if I'm twiddling my thumbs.

I can't give a history or procedure to follow, but I'm well aware of what really helped. Reading aloud. I realized if I could read what I wrote out loud—if I could perform a dramatic reading without a phrasing, a word, or an awkward rhythm making me to halt or stutter or go back and reread—I had achieved the voice I wanted.

  17. #PennedPossibilities 1166: Would any of your characters actually survive a “zombie” apocalypse?

In-universe, zombie (🧟 🧟‍♀️ 🧟‍♂️) would be defined as ordinary humans infected by a saliva-vector communicative disease akin to a rabies-leprosy on steroids that turns people into shambling demented cannibals with rotting skin and a taste for uncured head cheese? That kind of describes most depictions of zombies, doesn't it?

First factor: None of the characters would be statistically likely to be near the initial outbreak where the spread begins.

Second factor: Health Services is a big agency that oversees the health and safety of the entire population. With modern communication, outbreaks would be caught and understood in days.

Third factor: The climate is extremely hot, night and day. Without available water and the intelligence to drink it and find shelter during deadly heat, zombies become mummies pretty quickly, limiting the outbreak automatically.

Fourth factor: Shambling by definition isn't flying, so angel zombies aren't spreading the disease worldwide. Rabies-like symptoms will prevent daemonic zombies from performing miracle-work (not explaining) that could negate their shambling disability.

The characters all live in the city, have it on the ball, and, for factors above, the apocalypse will either exhaust itself or become a "controlled outbreak" quickly. I suspect the constabulary would work to contain it, with whistles being distributed to civilians and day angels patrolling the skies. The characters would all avoid being bitten or being chewed up. Daemons can make zombie capture completely hands-free.

The reporter SC and the MC, who is also a photographer working with him, would be in the most danger since they would be reporting on the outbreak.
