  1. Earlier this month the Teenager voted for the first time.

Today they're completing their first Government consultation.

    They grow up so quick.

(also, lol at the angry typing & grumbling taking place)

  2. The consultation that could see digital ID checks sweep across the Internet ends today ⌛️

ORG has submitted a response, outlining the threats to privacy and freedom of expression posed by the government's proposals.

We set out a better way forward that tackles the cause of online harms.

  3. We're calling on the UK government to change its approach to online safety.

This means pulling back from creating new harms through the expansion of insecure ID checkpoints, VPN restrictions and blocks on access to information and support.

Have your say in the consultation before it closes TODAY ⬇️

  4. Pffft. I see our beloved Government is learning from the Tech Bros about consent.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, no (but it actually means yes once you've read it).

  5. 🚨 LAST CHANCE 🚨

The UK government's online safety consultation closes TODAY.

We must push back against more and more online ID checks. Making every adult hand over sensitive data to unregulated providers is itself UNSAFE.

Let's take on Big Tech business models instead!

  6. 1 DAY TO GO ⏰️

💭 Tell the UK government to rethink online safety.

❌️ Creating a privacy timebomb with surveillance-based information blockades isn't the way.

✅️ We need user choice and better platform design, NOT mandatory ID checks.

Have your say on a better way by 26 May ➡️ gov.uk/government/consultation

  7. seems like the tide is turning on Digital IDs 🥳

"A report from Parliament's Home Affairs Committee this week concluded the government's handling of mandatory digital ID plans was "rushed, poorly thought out and failed to make a convincing case." [...] Andy Burnham previously warned that tying digital ID to employment checks risked creating a "backdoor national ID system"

  11. We're paying a huge price for a policy that doesn't work.

People adapt what they do online when parts of the Internet are put behind intrusive ID checks.

Why carry on like this when young Australians have found ways to bypass the social media ban?

  19. Access to information shouldn't be ransomed for our personal data.

We’ve gone from ID checks for porn to potentially age-gating social media, livestreams, websites and more.

  20. Scan a QR code to prove you're human sounds like one of the most asinine ridiculous things I've ever heard of. A total oxymoron and yet whoever was in charge of this project at Google was blind to how dumb an idea it was.

PS: Captchas are mostly a scam now anyway. They stopped keeping the bots out years ago and are now just another tracking tool

  21. Privacy is online safety ✊️

That's why the UK government gets it so wrong with ever more online ID checks.

Either sensitive data gets stockpiled for attack, or people are driven to riskier parts of the Internet. It's lose-lose.

“Tony Blair’s ID card scheme which Britain rejected in 2006 is back — rebranded as ‘Digital ID’.

▪️Back then the policy collapsed after public backlash, but now the same idea, announced by King Charles, is returning in a far more powerful form: one system linking banking, health records, taxes and government services to a single digital account.

▪️Blair’s 6.1 billion force Digital ID in failed in 2006, as 2.96 million people petitioned against it.

▪️The initiative was brought back to life in 2025.

    🤔Who’s driving the push?
