👀 Any #Android #FOSS #cycling apps recommendations? 🚴
Stuff I have been using on my tours:
- #OsmAnd and #CoMaps for maps/navigation (though @CoMaps desperately needs a layer for bicycles. Edit: Issue for tracking this feature).
- #FitoTrack for recording my tours/tracks. Also tried #OpenTracks for this.
- #StreetComplete when I find something interesting to add to #OpenStreetMap.
- #BikeRouter (browser) for planning tours.
❓ Any other interesting apps I have missed and I should check out?

#PSA: the #QUIK #SMS [app] has been updated, and it's way better than before.
I used to have problems with it because the pictures it sent via #MMS were of far poorer quality than the other programs I tried (including the #AOSP default Messaging app), but they seem to have fixed that.
They also have added a nice big button to trigger your phone's native dictation service (you can turn that off if you don't want it, or don't have one).
It has successfully replaced the proprietary SMS program I was using before, which makes me quite glad.

Remember the "Simple Mobile Tools" suite of Android apps? It used to be a great collection of basic apps that didn't slurp up your data, clog up your apps with advertising, or charge exorbitant prices. It isn't anymore.
At the end of 2023, the suite was sold to ZipoApps, who proceeded to do all of those things. (This appears to be their business model: buy an app with a large install base and squeeze every last bit of monetization out of it while destroying its usefulness, fun, and credibility.)
Seriously: They replaced the $2.99 one-time payment for the Pro version of Calendar with a $15/week subscription.
Fortunately the apps were all GPL, and there's a complete fork called Fossify. They're still slowly rolling apps out to F-Droid and Google Play, with about 10 out so far.
I use the calendar and contacts apps all the time, and the voice recorder is good for taking quick notes.

Update: The file manager and gallery have also been solid (local-only of course), and the phone app handles calls just fine (unless you need more accessibility or transcriptions). The music player does well with local audio.
I ended up dropping the messages app, which is OK for SMS/MMS, but doesn't handle RCS at all. The keyboard really doesn't fit my typing style, and I switched to Heliboard.

Szukacie czegoś obsługującego kilka platform (Mastodon, Pixelfed, *key, *oma), czy jedną, a dobrze?
Jakie features są dla was kluczowe (poza takimi oczywistościami jak wysyłanie wpisów i przeglądanie osi czasu) i muszą być w kliencie, żebyście dali mu szansę? Może filtry albo listy? Albo przypominanie o alt text?
Na ile ważny jest wygląd aplikacji? A to, czy jest FOSS?
Proszę o podbicia dla większego zasięgu.

Решила опубликовать приложение "Тюнер тела" (BodyTune).
Простое приложение для android для мониторинга веса (и других измерений). Вот что оно делает: вы вводите свой рост, текущий вес и вес, к которому стремитесь, - приложение его отображает на графике:
зелёным —> значит, вы движетесь к цели, красным — нет.
Дополнительно вы можете сохранять измерения груди, талии, бедра и бицепса (показатели отображаются на отдельных графиках).
Любую запись можно отредактировать.
Можно экспортировать / импортировать историю измерений в файл в формате CSV (например для переноса между устройствами).
Поддерживает русский и английский языки (выбирается в зависимости от языка системы), тёмную и светлую темы.
Для работы не требуется никаких разрешений.
Не требуется доступ в интернет.
Не собирает геолокацию.
Не требует денег.
Не требует никаких персональных данных.
Ничего никуда не отправляет.
Приложение написано на java, собрано и протестировано на устройствах android 8, 13 и 16 версий, файл apk подписан.

І я хочу попросити вас про допомогу в локалізації. Інтерфейс додатка на WebLate вже перекладений, а от внутрішнє розпізнавання команд поки не повністю. Щоб розпізнавання було кращим і точнішим я прошу в вас допомоги. Я створив відгалуження репозиторію і вже переклав деякі навички, інші ще в процесі. I'm looking for an android tool to scale down a photo.
Photos taken with my phone have too high resolution to be compatible with mastodon.
