Jag har haft ett mystiskt problem med Hallon, där varje gång någon skickar mig en bild med MMS så återkommer samma meddelande vid exakt samma tidpunkt de två följande dagarna. Jag vet inte om det fortfarande är så eftersom jag så sällan får sådana.

När chattboten vägrade koppla mig vidare så ringde jag helt sonika till Tres kundtjänst. Jag fick ett mycket vänligt bemötande men tyvärr hade de inte tillgång att rota i mitt konto. De misstänkte det avsändande bolaget, och bad mig fråga mina kontakter vilka operatörer de använder. Det låter lite mindre troligt tycker jag, men jag får väl prova det om problemet håller i sig.

One thing Apple didn't announce yesterday was fixing the absolutely flaky implementation of messgae syncing across devices and supporting MMS as well as iMessage.

This was working for me until 3 days ago and is now well borked.

I am looking for a FOSS alternative to Google Messages.

The main feature I want to keep is "device pairing:" I should be able to link it to my computer and type out messages with a physical keyboard. This is important because I don't want to write a long message on my phone, and some people I communicate with are unable to use another messaging system that works on desktops out-of-the-box.

I've tried several SMS apps on F-Droid, but none of them seem to have this feature.

I do not need all the advanced features of RCS, nor do I need E2EE (because most of the people I use Google Messages to talk to are on iPhones).

#PSA: the #QUIK #SMS [app] has been updated, and it's way better than before.

I used to have problems with it because the pictures it sent via #MMS were of far poorer quality than the other programs I tried (including the #AOSP default Messaging app), but they seem to have fixed that.

They also have added a nice big button to trigger your phone's native dictation service (you can turn that off if you don't want it, or don't have one).

It has successfully replaced the proprietary SMS program I was using before, which makes me quite glad.

@kookie64 Everything (data, calls, text, voicemail) works for me except #MMS but that's not included in my plan anyway. However, it depends on your region and carrier as not everyone's experience has been as great as mine : )

Also, my use case is not normal I think. I try to use only #Signal, #Matrix and #DeltaChat with family and friends and discourage people from contacting me on legacy unencrypted phone calls and #SMS by changing my phone number every year!

Guess we need a #SaltTyphoon type incident in our country for people to get off SMS...?
