CRDTs are hard. Unicode is hard. And I'm mixing the two of them to make one tool.

At least I've gotten to spend the time designing it well, and I'm finding the bugs earlier rather than later.

This is easily one of the toughest programming challenges I've ever had. And it's one of the most fun I've ever done.

Feeling excited about my new project. It's a second brain/ereader type app built using flutter, so it covers all the platforms. Looking forward to sharing progress with the world as I build it. It's got a long ways to go, so I'm not sharing the links yet. But I'm having fun building it.

Привет, Хабр. Несколько месяцев назад я вышел ближе к ночи в магазин и, проходя мимо стойки с яблоками, придумал рабочую мысль, которую, как обычно, скинул себе в Telegram. Дома меня ждал знакомый ритуал: включить ноут, открыть Telegram, скопировать текст, открыть Obsidian, найти нужную заметку с идеями и только после этого вставить мысль туда, где она и должна была оказаться изначально. Меня в тот момент зацепили не сами действия, а их архитектурная странность. Формально мои заметки лежали в обычной локальной папке и принадлежали мне. Практически же доступ к ним был завязан на конкретный десктопный клиент, плагины, sync и костыли. Попробуйте, например, нормально достучаться до своей локальной базы заметок с телефона или прикрутить к ней простую автоматизацию и быстро обнаружите БОЛЬ. Именно тогда у меня появился не ответ, а вопрос: это моя частная боль или уже ставший привычным сценарий у других людей, которые уже ведут большие vault'ы в Obsidian, Logseq, Zim и других PKMS? И если проблема реальна, то чего им на самом деле не хватает — стабильной синхронизации, нормального плагина, ещё одного клиента... или отдельного серверного слоя? Этот текст — не история в духе «смотрите, я сделал notes‑as‑a-service». Хотя соблазн подать его именно так есть, говорить об этом пока рано. Это дискавери о том, как из личной боли, ресерча и создания MVP у меня сложилась гипотеза, что части пользователей markdown‑заметок нужен не новый редактор и не мощные плагины, а бэкенд поверх уже существующей папки с заметками.

I was pointed at this blog post https://amberwilliams.io/blogs/building-my-own-pkms and it seems to reflect my feelings about #PKMS lately: it's extremely hard to find one that works for me, because I don't need an app. I need a framework that would work alongside me, not force me into its limitations.

As the org-roam manual says,

> One key advantage to Org-roam is that building on top of Emacs gives it malleability. This is especially important for note-taking workflows. It is our belief that note-taking workflows are extremely personal, and there is no one tool that’s perfect for you. Org-mode and Org-roam allows you to discover what works for you, and build that perfect tool for yourself.

In the end, the best tool for me was #TiddlyWiki. I just hated the UX. Well, now that I'm back to making my own tooling, I decide the UX and it works the way I need it to. And for me, running ripgrep over my notes is a perfectly acceptable global search solution.

My repository of personal notes contains around 600 entries at the moment. There's a lot of useful information in there. However, as time goes on, I find myself forgetting about its existence. I've thought about it and reached the following conclusion: not finding the information that I need in the moment is so (mentally) painful that I am inadvertently avoiding looking into my notes first.

I'm curious what others think about this. Any solutions?

#MindMac set to launch at login, with inline enabled, is giving me a glimpse into what system-wide integration of #AI and #LM with #ChatGPT can look like. Working with #ObsidianMD, the possibilities are incredible. Is there a #Linux #distro focused on bringing AI together with #PKM yet? Am also thinking about what this could look like if fully baked into an e-ink tablet like Remarkable. #pkms

@taylorhadden Yes, I agree. The main message was not to waste our time and effort to find a perfect solution. I could have written a book if I didn’t spend time to explore Notion, Logseq, or many other apps for #pkms 😂

También me pasa a veces que sé que tengo cierta referencia guardada, pero ya no sé si en los marcadores de Nextcloud, en Logseq, en Workflowy, en Wallabag, en un PDF en una carpeta o en un papel suelto por la casa.
