  4. #TIL that if you're using #markdown in the #glitchsoc version of Mastodon, it doesn't render pretend 'tone' closing HTML tags, like </snark> unless you escape them, see here for an example: .

    So if I've accidentally (and it was an accident I assure you) offended you today, my apologies, and please insert the right tone tag to make the toot more reasonable. </laughingbutalsocrying>

    * Issues müssen auf allen branches sichtbar sein
    * #markdown support
    * #plantuml support
    * Keine merge-konflikte wenn Kommentare von unterschiedlichen committern gepusht werden
    * Import von gitlab (inkl. Closed, tags, comments
    * (Attachments?)

  12. Whether or not they claim to support #Markdown, here are the results for some #Mastodon clients I have access to…

    * ✅ — @pachli (via "Lab experiments")
    * 🚫 — @Mastodon, @elk, @pinafore, @moshidon, @Tusky

    I'm surprised, because I think I've seen #Elk support Markdown in other posts. I also thought Markdown support would be more common than that.

  13. #ThariqShihipar advocates for using #HTML over #Markdown as an #outputformat for #Claude, highlighting its ability to include SVG diagrams, interactive widgets, and in-page navigation. This approach can enhance the clarity and presentation of information, as demonstrated by a request for an HTML explanation of a Linux security exploit. simonwillison.net/2026/May/8/u #AIagent #AI #ML #NLP #LLM #GenAI

We show you how to link to images already in your #DEVONthink database and how to easily insert images and automatically store them in your database in one go. #pkm #productivity #tipoftheday devontechnologies.com/blog/202

  23. [Перевод] Claude Code: почему HTML лучше Markdown

  24. :boost_ok: :boost_requested: Anyone know a cheap #eInkReader with [optional] "backlight"?
    - Don't need colour, but it's a plus.
    - Don't need WiFi, but it's a plus.
    - Just a simple #eBookReader. No vendor-/provider-locked device!
    - Long battery life. Bonus points if it can take regular AA/AAA or 18650/21700 cells and allows for tool-free swappable batteries and/or can run solely off USB externally.
    - microSD slot or USB-OTG are necessary.
    - Must support #ePub, #Markdown, text, PNG, JPG, #PDF, ...

  25. Every month I publish a newsletter-esque post covering what I've been up to this past month.

    My April update is out, and covers my blog post on tidying up my #Markdown, a big piece on some #AI tools I’ve tried out for running a fully local digital assistant, insights from the big #London #learning and #HR tech conference at the ExCel last week, some more home networking changes, and some links to things I found useful this past month.

  26. I'm not sure how many of you tried I Write Like after I started posting about it. And it's ok, I'm enjoying it here anyway. Still, it would be nice to have some feedback, so it would help a lot if you voted.

  29. As much as I like to do everything myself, I chose to use an off-the-shelf #Markdown parser for my personal site.

    There may sometimes be a good reason to re-invent the wheel — even if it is just to learn more about wheels — but using an established tool or package can save you time and headaches. However, the key is to know which to use and when.

  34. has horrible edge cases and despite the valiant effort of , the dialects seem to diverge and multiply over time. I consider switching my personal stuff to where possible: djot.net/

    Ideas:
    - Stop working on github.com/karlb/smu and maintain either github.com/karlb/cdjot or github.com/karlb/minipandoc instead
    - Use github.com/karlb/gemtext.lua to generate (for instead of the unmaintained github.com/karlb/md2gemini

    Thoughts?

  35. Quarkdown: because #Markdown wasn’t confusing enough, now it’s got superpowers! 🦸‍♂️💥 Combine that with #LaTeX for maximum chaos and frustration, all in the name of "productivity." But hey, at least it’s free and open source, so you can share your misery with everyone! 😂🔧

  36. How is this thing done? I tried Markdown code format here on Mastodon, using code HTML tags, neither work.

    Is my suspicion using own instance with allowed code use correct? ActivityPub supports this, but Mastodon don't?

    PS: This shows up as <code> tags on Mastodon.
