  1. RE: pkm.social/@ellane/11581903891

#Obsidian folks can now use their favorite #markdown editor along with #journelly for #iOS @ellane's got it covered!

No need to be an #emacs nut like me ;)

  2. @xenodium I can't believe that I missed this notice originally!

It would be awesome to have #journelly on #android but I totally would understand if it's not possible.

  3. @andros Another item I'm now considering is target audience. While I love and use org myself, we are a fairly niche bunch. To expand the pool of users (potential Journelly downloads), I also need Markdown support. Working on that now.

    #org #orgmode #markdown #journelly #social

  4. @andros Neat!

I wrestled with something similar for Journelly. One thing I considered is how human readable/consumable I wanted the file to be without additional tooling. Probably not relevant for your use-case as it seems to work more like an rss feed. For my case/format, collapsing in org mode gave a handy overview.

Coincidentally, we use a similar feed of sorts for emacs.tv raw.githubusercontent.com/emac

    #org #orgmode #markdown #journelly #social

  5. @nuno_nuno Thank you! My other iOS apps would likely need more VoiceOver love before I'd feel comfortable declaring them VoiceOver friendly. Thanks to @Yvonnezed for all the VoiceOver feedback I received for #Journelly which was addressed in v1.2. I'll take a look at the issue you mentioned also.

Regarding Swift development on Emacs, yes I do most of it, but still fallback on Xcode for certain things. Primarily debugging and uploading to App Store. Sometimes browsing documentation.

  6. @nuno_nuno thank you! Nice to hear you like the content.

#Journelly version 1.2 added VoiceOver improvements xenodium.com/journelly-1-2-rel though I’m sure I can improve some more.

How about trying out the TestFlight beta build (it’s free) to get a proper VoiceOver feel? If keen, I’ll need an email address to send the invite (you can private message or email me at [email protected]).

  7. Quick #Journelly tip:

It’s simple to add multiple notes into the same Journelly file without interrupting your reading flow.

Just share snippets of text as you’re reading without saving the file in Journelly. Make the last thing you share the URL of the piece. Add your own thoughts plus a tag or two, then save the note.

  8. My favourite app for journaling, #Journelly, just dropped a beta for markdown support 👀 Useful for me! I don’t really understand ‘.org’, so this’ll help me personally! You own your own files, so can bring between apps like Obsidian for free (& privately)!

  9. I really like #Journelly under iOS. I only use it as a magazine so far. But I also try to write down fleeting thoughts so as not to lose them.

I haven't found the opportunity to create templates for certain notes yet. It would simplify the work a little.

But I really like the app in everything else.

  10. Love seeing non #orgmode folks happily using Journelly! @mbjones's post show us how he integrates with his #markdown flow.

ps. Markdown support is also coming to #Journelly

  11. I am still hesitating to make a move on #journelly. Partially because I lack some features I use in DayOne a lot - videos, audio recordings (esp. from my AW), maybe even encryption... Partially also because I see a lot of overlap in how people use it with #denote. And I think denote is a better place for loose notes because it produces separate files. Such atomicity makes a lot of things easier. So, I've bought it but I think I will wait it out so far, maybe for another year with #dayone.

  12. I've been making some progress in bringing #Markdown support to journelly.com

I'll soon have the first builds with #Markdown support available via the beta group.

Interested in joining the TestFlight beta? Reach out (details at journelly.com)

  13. @ellane yay! love seeing concrete #journelly usage! Good luck with your experiments!

  14. I really like using Journelly on iOS by @xenodium. After reading lmno.lol/alvaro/a-richer-journ and looking at the emacs config (github.com/xenodium/dotsies/bl) I'm wondering how the Journelly-file has ended up in “~/Documents/My org files/Journelly/Journelly.org” even though only iCloud is supported for syncing. 🤔 Maybe symlinks…
    Anyone got an idea?
