While I don't care enough to cite the extension which produces this effect, let me explain.
Oh you've already guessed. The strangely outlined-in-dash elements, shown here, are those which the aforementioned extension (and likely so many duplicate utilities) identified as "No Follow" links.

Can you remind me why that's important to know?
Well. Not really. But, because someone wants to study the data or whatever...

Would you consider labelling the account as a bot, if its main functions are automated?

I personally consider having to opt out via bio tags like #nofollow and #nobot to be an anti-pattern.

@django @murmel_social it’s likely an automated action. Send us the the person’s handle and we will make sure they don’t get followed. Do they have a #nofollow in their bio?

Is there a guide somewhere to the informal standards folks in the Fediverse use to indicate “don’t index content from my account”, “don’t interact with me if you’re a bot”, etc?

I see:

1. Larger Mastodon instances generally manage their robots.txt carefully
2. Informal profile hashtags, including #nobot, #noindex, and #nofollow. I have not found an exhaustive list or formal description of these.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? What other standards are there?
