  1. Hmm, the #RaspberryPI little NAS server no longer seems to work -- the #Radxa SATA thingy no longer "sees" the drives. Annoying.

I wonder if it was a package update. Sadly it's been quite a few days since the last time I rebooted it ... but apparently rpi-eeprom and raspi-firmware were updated since the last reboot.

Can I find the original versions? Sigh.

  7. Aaaaan the SD card died on my #Voron v0 rpi…. Shame on me for not doing backups. It was “just a test” that ended up working. But seriously, why do we still use SD cards? Usually I would go for a #Radxa or an #OrangePi board with eMMC. But RPi had a pre-built image, and so I went that path…

A post about successfully setting up #HomeAssistant on a #Radxa board using #Armbian, replacing an underpowered Raspberry Pi.

  13. Does anyone know where I can get a Quad #SATA #HAT for a #Raspberry #Pi?
I see #Seeed and #Radxa used to make these kind of things, but nowhere can I actually find such a hat for sale, it's all out of stock.

  17. This board turns a Raspberry Pi CM5 into a NAS with support for 5 HDDs

The Radxa Taco is a carrier board for a Raspberry Pi Compute Module that gives you ethernet, USB, and HDMI ports plus a microSD card reader and M.2 2280 and M.2 2230 slots. But this board also has SATA connectors that let your compute module to power a network-attached storage system with up to five hard drives.

  21. Checking out #DietPi on #Radxa Rock 4B+ - it works surprisingly well and I adore how much effort devs put into making the tools for the system’s personalization. It’s easier than ever to install needed packages and even choose a GUI. Cool 🙌🏻

  22. Literally no one: –

Me: how about having some unnecessary #BGA #soldering practice in the shape of upgrading #RAM on a #Radxa 4B Plus from 2GB to 4GB? 🤣

Well that did not go as planned.

I used Samsung K4F6E3S4HMMGCJ 2GB RAM chips from #RaspberryPi 4B. With those Radxa would power on, but won't boot and won't go into recovery mode. Only Maskrom works but I wasn't able even to flash a firmware.

Originally it has two HYNIX H9HCNNN8KUMLHR-NME chips - I wonder what makes those different... 🤔

  23. And I also discovered a cool way of cloning your #Radxa setup into an image using their ready made script.

Works really cool and pretty fast - maybe due to the fact it's running on an eMMC instead of a micro SD card.

An image of a 32GB eMMC ended up as a
7.4GB uncompressed image, which then can go down to like 3-4 GB archived. Sweet.

    The script is here btw:

  24. Far from perfect, but #ChatGPT can be helpful faster than #Radxa support.

I got some Radxa Rock 4B+ boards with AW‑NB197SM WiFi module and turns out it was some custom batch or smth.

So they removed support for this module in Radxa OS r4 and onwards, though it works on r3.

Also WiFi works great on #DietPi and #Armbian, so not a hardware fault.

After fiddling for quite a while ChatGPT made me a shell script that fixes - feel free to use it: github.com/in-sympathy/radxa_r

  25. Ok, I managed to do it. You have to boot it I. Recovery mode - not maskrom, and then RKDevTool v2.86 works ok - not 2.96, because the newer one crashes as soon as you try to flash eMMC.

Now a new question - has anyone managed to get WiFi to work on #Radxa os? Because it works fine on #Armbian so definitely a software issue

  26. The @openmandriva devs are demoing their distribution with #XLibre at #FOSDEM in Brussels. They brought an #AMD BC250, a #GPD MicroPC 2 UMPC, a #Radxa Orion O6 #ARMv9 SBC, and a #Steam Deck, all running XLibre on #OpenMandriva Cooker.

They said, "OpenMandriva is pleased to announce the launch of the most expensive marketing program in history at FOSDEM." ;-) You can experience this gem at booth H4.

  27. Finally got my own #ARM motherboard with #CIX P1 SoC!

2026 has already begun as the #yearofthelinuxdesktop, should I tag it as #yearofthearmlinuxdesktop? Can't wait for the RISC-V chips!
