I don't care that the Chinese government heavily subsidizes their #EV market, at every level, because we should be doing *exactly* the same—no, significantly *more*—here in the #US, the #UK, and across #Europe.

External design is much less relevant (though it's what most people criticize about China's vehicles) than #batteries, #chassis's, #drivetrains, and #charging #infrastructure, most areas where %China is ahead, exponentially, at every level of the market.

A curse upon product designers who use "one-way" clips in the casings of their products. Sure, it's a cheap way to manufacture and assemble the unit, but it makes repair people miserable.

Of course, they don't *want* people repairing the product. "Throw it away and buy a new one!"

I have just decided that this is called "YOLO engineering", and it is bad, and anyone that does it should feel bad.

It seems to be quite hard to find a decent #SBC (single board computer) usable for a #NAS (network attached storage), i.e. with four or more #SATA connectors plus a matching #chassis that can house four 3.5" #harddrive. Of course, with good #Linux support.
Maybe something like Kobol's Helios (out of business).

The closest I came up with was to use a #RaspberryPi with a Compute Module 4, then attaching a SATA card to the CM4's #PCIe slot. But that seems overly complex and no good chassis is available.
Any good #ideas or #suggestions?
