Here are my Perpetual Journal nature observations fm my yard 1, 2 & 3 yrs ago this week: Prickly Pear fruits; Velvet Mesquite catkins & seedpods; Western Tanager. This week in ‘26 we see lots of PP fruits, some VM catkins, & no Tanagers.

I love watching Prickly Pear tunas (fruits) change color from green>pink>maroon so I used data visualization in my art to track the color change. On Day 19 I saw a Harris’s Antelope Ground Squirrel eating it & on Day 20 the tuna had fallen off the cactus, onto the ground.

We’re starting to see more Queen Butterfly eggs & larvae on our Milkweeds (1st time since May; here they are in my Perpetual Journal). I love watching butterflies’ life cycle from egg>caterpillar>chrysalis>butterfly!😍
