I keep a Perpetual Journal; here are my entries from 1, 2 & 3 yrs ago this week: a spotted Red Velvet Mite; Long-tailed Antlion; Plume Moth; Black-headed Grosbeak. In ‘26 I’ve seen only solid RVMs; 1 L-tA; a few PMs & no B-h Gs.

`A new species, Chlorocytus papahemii sp. nov. (Pteromalidae), a hyperparasitoid of E. curculionum, is described from China. Very pleased to find this tiny (1mm) Barkfly, Bertkauia lucifuga, in the leaf litter at the scrappy bit of rubbish woodland at the bottom of our street, pretty rare and not recorded in Northumberland. It had lost a leg somehow. #Insect #Arthropod #Barkfly #Nature #Macro
