I am excited that my submission at JOSE (Journal of Open Science Education; https://jose.theoj.org/) has now been assigned an editor and a first reviewer! 🥳
🚨 We are still looking for a second reviewer: https://github.com/openjournals/jose-reviews/issues/347! 🚨
Would you like to review a tutorial on #Quarto for research (with a special focus on #humanities researchers with no programming background)? If so, sign up as a reviewer here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScll1kTfY3tcdL23TIv1pWXKuXUcnwrXk_bIl5fkLQnGbqb7A/viewform! This is a really different (and I personally think better!) reviewing experience than traditional academic publishing: reviews follow a checklist principle and reviewers' contributions are public.

„Have you developed some tools?“
Today I had the pleasure to meet interesting people from all around the #NFDI at the 4th NFDI Berlin-Brandenburg network meeting (https://events.hifis.net/event/3380/).
The event was about #provenance and #reproducibility and people represented diverse fields, spanning astronomy, medicine, chemistry and history.I am always impressed by the wealth of practical solutions and tools, e.g., to document workflows and create metadata. I too enjoy coding, but sticking to the critical discussion is definitely a comfort zone in sociology…
PS thanks @wikimediaDE for hosting the event. Sitting on a wooden box and having some mate is the most Berlin thing I have done recently…

The Paper has a GitHub, the GitHub has a README, the README has Nothing: #Reproducibility Signals for Review Support
> Reproducibility policies promise "checkable" medical-imaging science, yet many submissions still ship unverifiable artifacts. An analysis of 3722 MICCAI papers shows code-linking rising from 51.8% to 72.5%, but ~13% of linked repositories are inaccessible or empty.

🔐 Debian 14 verrouille sa sécurité : vous allez pouvoir compter sur "Forky" !

🍥 Debian Now Blocks Non-Reproducible Packages from Testing
「 The main benefits include package integrity, build transparency, and stronger supply-chain verification. This way, Debian can more effectively confirm that distributed binaries match their source, detect unexpected build changes, reduce the risk of compromised infrastructure producing altered packages, and prevent reproducibility regressions from entering testing 」

This coming Wednesday (!) 13 May ReproducibiliTea in the HumaniTeas is delighted to welcome Andrey Anderson dos Santos to speak about Open Peer Review. After a short input talk, we will have plenty of time to discuss this rather controversial topic!
Join us at 16:00 CEST in room 4.006 of the @unibibkoeln for tea and cookies, or online via Zoom (see link sent via our mailing list: https://lists.uni-koeln.de/mailman/listinfo/reproducibilitea-humaniteas).
Andrey recently completed his PhD on #OpenScience practices in the #humanities and is coming all the way from Brazil to Cologne, so don't miss out!
Recommended (optional) reading for preparation: https://doi.org/10.1007/s11192-020-03488-4.

"As of May 9, 2026, Debian’s migration software now actively blocks packages from migrating into the testing archive if they fail the reproducibility check. This applies both to new packages that cannot be reproduced and to existing packages whose reproducibility has regressed. Debian 14.0 will be the first major Debian release to ship under this hard mandate."

In a shocking revelation, the #Debian overlords have decreed that packages should be *gasp* reproducible! 🤯 Apparently, this is a "giant leap" for a project that still thinks it's 1993. 🚀 Meanwhile, the rest of us continue to enjoy working software. 😂
