That extensible library then can be adapted to any TTS we are building. Our worry will be then in tuning the voice and way of emphasizing certain words and phrases.

I've noticed a #linguistic oddity that bugs me, mostly since I'm seeing it in ads, not hearing it used by real people.
In my dialect, "shop" can be a noun, a place where you can buy things. It can also be an intransitive verb, i.e. one that takes no direct object.
"What are you doing?" "Shopping"
If you want to buy a particular thing, you're shopping FOR it, not shopping it, because shop doesn't take a direct object.
But I'm seeing ads urging me to "shop" various products. Incoherent.
