Kinship is a bit more complex than it is in Mandarin #Chinese and that's already substantially more complicated than in European languages. (Most contemporary speakers don't really know and/or use the fully nuanced terms though. I certainly don't as a heritage speaker.)

Opening the #ICAME47, Laurence presented some of the exciting new features he's recently developed for AntConc and his vision for the confluence of #GenAI and corpus #linguistics. I don't agree with everything, but I really appreciate the focus on local LLMs, his highly impressive, continuous development of free educational software, and his generally positive outlook on the future of corpus linguistics! A brilliant start to the #ICAME47!
