The buttery, flaky crescent you eat for breakfast is not as French as you think.

The story goes back to Austria, where the kipferl (a crescent-shaped pastry) was made centuries before the modern croissant.

So how did it become a French symbol?

In the 19th century, Austrian baker August Zang opened a Viennese bakery in Paris, helping popularize Viennese-style pastries. French bakers eventually enhanced the concept, using laminated yeast dough and lots of butter to create the light, flaky pastry we know today.

🇦🇹 Austria gave it an early ancestor.
🇫🇷 France made it famous.
🥐 The rest is delicious history.

Après le lever de la pleine lune capté entre les tours de la cathédrale, j'ai pensé à capter un très fin croissant de lune au même endroit.
Je ne me suis jamais vraiment intéressé, pour le moment, à ce stade du cycle lunaire et je me demande à partir de combien de nuits avant ou après la nouvelle lune, le plus fin possible croissant de lune est-il BIEN capté par un boîtier plein format et une focale de 180 mm ? La veille ou le lendemain, c'est bon ? Ou attendre/précéder 2 ou 3 nuits ?
