So so weird! Using #dvgrab to capture footage from old DV video tapes and all seems to be going well. But using the dv2 format I get clips where audio is sped up with several clips. So I tried dv1, seemed fine, but #FinalCutPro doesn't take these files. Neither does the mov format. So I tried the raw format and that worked fine. But now there's one clip where audio is pitched down by more than 2 steps. So weird!

Hmm yes I think I should let #FinalCutPro render on my 64GB #MacStudio instead. VR footage is just too heavy it seems. My 16GB M1 MBP isn’t meant for this haha.

If you have #FinalCutPro and you don't have #Motion, you're missing half the fun.

Hmm that's surprising. Used #dvgrab to capture some footage from DV Tapes. There are several formats to choose from. One of them is QuickTime mov. You would've thought #Apple could handle that. But apparently the codec DV/DVCPRO is unsupported by both QuickTime and #FinalCutPro. #Compressor can't handle it either.

The raw format is being handled just fine.

This is not the first time I find Apple stuff to have zero support for some codecs. Yet #HandBrake and #ShutterEncoder do.

They should've done this 3-4 years ago, honestly. Still, I hope they keep the creators in place (or add even more) and keep the rollouts coming.

I just stopped into the Apple Store to take a quick look at the #MacBookNeo, but while I was there, I couldn’t help take a look at the #M5MacBookAir. I tested it out a little bit on #FinalCutPro.

The magnetic mask feature rendered stupid fast!

I also noticed they don’t install Final Cut Pro on the demo MacBook Neos

(6) Easy to use vector drawing tool (Simpler and easier than #inkscape )
(7) Simple document editor (I used to like #AbiWord back in the day - #LibreWriter feels very complicated to me)

Today I found that I have a lot of offline media errors in DR, due to moving my Apple Photos library a while back. Relinking the files has not worked so far.

So the main reason I upgraded to macOS Sequoia (see above), was to be able to use the new beat detection tool in Final Cut Pro.

Finally tested it today. Once you’ve activated beat detection on an audio track, you can snap video clips to the beat, which is cool, until… you zoom in or out of the timeline, which crashes FCP. Every. Single. Time.

Tried on several audio files in different formats.

And of course I couldn’t find any useful info online because slop etc…

I take it all back. I just used Final Cut to transcribe another video, and I cannot believe how bad it is. Not just lots of missed words and wrong words, but correct words that are spelled incorrectly.

Sometimes where there should be a word, there is just the first letter of that word. Sometimes the correct word will be there, but a portion of the word is repeated. "Togetherther" for "together", for instance.

It is very weird and very unhelpful.

My next YouTube video is my first video edited in #FinalCutPro since I was at University and so far I am 100% moving to FCP once #TheParksForThe34th is all finished. Render failures in #LumaFusion aside, FCP just makes getting my #A7CII HLG footage corrected & graded such a snap
