Okay, here's something I really DON'T like about the new MacBook Neo. It looks like it doesn't support any scaled resolutions using a 4K display. If you want your icons to be bigger, you'd have to use a smaller resolution. This is really unfortunate. 😟
My M4 Mac mini is giving me these scaled options, which are a lot nicer to look at.
Oh, well... it is what it is.

Apple planuje wprowadzenie pierwszych Maców z procesorami Apple M4 na początku listopada, a nowe benchmarki na Geekbench pokazują wydajność nadchodzących modeli.
Należy je traktować bardzo wstępnie, ale wg tych danych maszyna o identyfikatorze „Mac16,1” z 10-rdzeniowym CPU uzyskała wynik 3864 dla jednego rdzenia i 15288 dla wielu rdzeni.
Dla porównania, iPad Pro z M4 osiągnął wyniki 3647 dla jednego rdzenia i 13135 dla wielu rdzeni, a dowolny Mac z Apple M3 miał wyniki 3048 i 11708.
Wydajność Apple M4 wzrosła zatem o około 26,7% w przypadku jednego rdzenia i o 30,6% dla wielu rdzeni w porównaniu z maszynami napędzanymi jednostkami Apple M3.
W teście Metal (wydajność GPU) Mac z Apple M4 uzyskał także wynik 57603, co wskazuje na poprawę o około 20% rok do roku.

My guess? They're going to come down in price until the compromise is acceptable ($500~$700).

I hope the performance difference between the #MacMini M4 an the M2 is big enough to upgrade.
On the other hand, I hope the M2 doesn’t devalue too much to pay half for the M4. I can guess you will have more chances on Facebook Marketplace for a good sale, tho.

Figured out that the new #MacMini with #AppleM4 won't have any USB-A connectors.
This would have been outrageous before 2020, but today is fine.
Most (newer) devices are using USB-C, and there are cheap A-to-C adapters anywhere.

A big leap over the #MiniPC performance may come when:
- #MacMini releases with #AppleM4 (Q4 2024)
- #AMD unveils #StrixHalo (H1 2025).Given the power envelope of what should be #HX380 and #HX390, I expect they will be on high-end laptops and Mini PC.
It always comes down to price. Who knows if a desktop or Mac Mini M4 performs better per dollar than a Mini PC with Strix Halo.

Just watched the Apple event for the new iPads.
The "regular" iPad is completely meaningless at this point. It's iPad Mini if you want a small one with a phone hardware stack, or iPad Air vs iPad Pro. And that boils down to wanting something adequate vs wanting the latest and greatest.
I love my iPad Air with M1. It's cool to see it upgraded, but M2 is not enough of an upgrade to matter. I'll likely wait until a generation of iPad Air with M4. Maybe even later. I don't really fully exploit what I have as it is.
I will, definitely, be looking out for other hardware from Apple later this year, though. I'm very likely upgrading to the iPhone 16 (probably Pro), having my iPhone 12 mini's battery refreshed, and handing that one down.
I'm also hoping we get a Mac Mini with M4 series chips, which I'd love to get a M4 Pro Mac Mini. That one might be wishful thinking, though. Looking at other lineup changes in recent years, I expect this to go M3 and M3 Pro, no Max nor Ultra, with M4 lineup being reserved for Mac Studio and/or Mac Pro.
We'll see, I guess!
