  1. Rep. Al Green is about to force a floor vote on H. Res. 1486, an article of #impeachment over directing ICE/CPB abuses & murders. Please call your congressperson’s DC office to push for an aye vote. For congresspeople to not is to reject the oath of office, corrosive to the #DemocraticParty coalition & the country. #USPol congress.gov/bill/119th-congre

  2. Labor Day is almost here and the political sprint is on. Are we going to be ready?

Trump has an $850 million total war chest, anchored by $403.4 million in cash on hand. We can’t match the dollars but we will sprint to winning at a discount because of you,

  3. [Puts on broken record] you can't just replace Jew with another word and think this shit is now ok.

"A #Brooklyn #DemocraticParty official is facing renewed accusations of #antisemitism and calls to resign after blaming “#Zionists” for a bitter dispute over her family’s #BedfordStuyvesant brownstone and comparing the case to #Israeli policies in #Judea and #Samaria.

#CarmellaCharrington, a #Democratic district leader representing part of central Brooklyn, made the remarks during a recent interview with #Egyptian #podcaster #RahaZein while discussing the long-running legal fight surrounding her family home.

“They’re Zionists that basically did this,” #Charrington said. “Same thing that they’re doing in the #WestBank, it’s the same thing. There’s a connection.”

The remarks brought renewed scrutiny to Charrington less than two months after she faced criticism for promoting a video centered on #HenryFord’s notoriously #antisemitic publication The International #Jew."

So six Democratic congresscritters crossed the aisle to pass the latest defence spending bill - not that unusual, given their swing districts and being up for election - but they did so with the "SAVE" act attached to it.

Apparently, they have all the self-preservation instinct of the mythical #lemmings from Mutual of Omaha's Wild Fabrication. Because the entire point of the #SAVE act is to disenfranchise as many Democratic-leaning voters as possible. This isn't speculation; it's easy to read in the measures that it calls for, but more than that, #Trump has explicitly described it that way over the last few months.

The #Democrats frequently do not need the #GOP to ratf*ck them [1]; as here, they're quite capable of doing it to themselves.

Everyone who cares about preserving #US democracy, such as it is, needs to yell at their #senators to ensure this monstrosity doesn't pass in the Senate. There's been lots of talk of it not having the votes there, but that was said about other things that (eventually) got passed as well.

[1] Don't blame me for the language. A US president brought the term into wide use.

  5. "A woman who was #elected on Tuesday to a leadership position in the influential #Brooklyn #DemocraticParty has apologized for a #socialmedia post from last year that amplified #antisemitic comments and #conspiracytheories.

#CarmellaCharrington, whose #candidacy was supported by #democraticsocialist lawmakers, recirculated a video that highlighted a series of pamphlets in a newspaper owned by #HenryFord, the industrialist who founded #Ford Motor Company, that later became a book in the 1920s. The book highlighted well-worn conspiracy theories that #Jews controlled business and the media, and it blamed them for many of the country’s problems.

“The only way to change is understanding the truth!” Ms. #Charrington wrote in her post, which was first reported by #Jewish Insider.

Reached by telephone on Friday, Ms. Charrington said she was not antisemitic[...]" :fozzie_wocka_wocka:

    ❝ CORPORATE DEMOCRATS ❞

    =

    CORPORATISTS

    we know #corporatism is #fascism.

corporate democrats are NOT centrists. they are the fascists of the #DemocraticParty

if your opponent is a fascist, you cannot be “a little bit fascist“ and call that #centrism.

a true Democratic party would defend #democracy and oppose fascism.

a true Democratic party would be an #antifascism party and make that the anchor of their political platform.

you are for fascism or against it. it’s as simple as that.

  8. The suggestion that partisan #gerrymandering has nothing to do with race is fantastical. It ignores the defining role of #race & #racism in shaping partisan affiliation in the #US. For instance, the embrace of the #CivilRights movement by the national #DemocraticParty is, acc/to many historians, the main reason so many white Southerners became #Republicans in the second part of the 20th century, a phenomenon known as realignment.

    Congratulations to:
    - Zohran Mamdani, newly elected Mayor of NYC
    - Mikie Sherrill, newly elected Governor of NJ
    - Abigail Spanberger, newly elected Governor of VA
    - And all the other Democratic victories across the country

And to my state, CA, for voting overwhelmingly Yes on Prop 50 and to Governor Gavin Newsom for his effort to bring this measure to the voters and help get this passed.

  10. The Morning: Democrats’ big night – The New York Times

    By Sam Sifton

Good morning. Last night was a big one for Democrats.

From left, Mikie Sherrill, Zohran Mamdani and Abigail Spanberger.

    A rebuke

Zohran Mamdani, 34, will be the next mayor of New York City, the youngest in more than a century. The democratic socialist will also be the city’s first Muslim mayor. Abigail Spanberger will be Virginia’s first female governor. In New Jersey, Mikie Sherrill cruised to victory in a governor’s race that polls had projected would be neck and neck.

And in California, voters passed a ballot measure to redraw the state’s maps in Democrats’ favor, which is likely to yield as many as five House seats for the party next year.

Turnout was extraordinary: The New York mayor’s race drew more than two million voters, almost double the 1.1 million people who voted for mayor four years ago. The New Jersey governor’s race topped three million votes for the first time.

As my colleague Lisa Lerer wrote, the results showed that Democrats — beaten soundly in all seven presidential battleground states just a year ago, losing control of the Senate and failing to win the House — can still accomplish the most important goal in politics: “They can win. And win big.”

The results amounted to a loud rebuke of President Trump’s first year back in office. A year ago, he won the White House on promises to fix the economy. Yesterday, his party’s losses showed the high political price that a party in power can pay when voters are still feeling squeezed.
