Democrat Gina Hinojosa is betting on winning back Latino voters from Republicans in her Texas governor bid, arguing rising costs and school funding matter more than immigration issues. #News #Reuters #Newsfeed #GinaHinojosa #GregAbbott #Texas #TexasGovernor #LatinoVoters #DemocraticParty #RepublicanParty #DonaldTrump #Election2026 #TexasPolitics #ImmigrationPolicy #USPolitics #BreakingNews #Politics2026

Trump has an $850 million total war chest, anchored by $403.4 million in cash on hand. We can’t match the dollars but we will sprint to winning at a discount because of you,

Mallory McMorrow calmly exposes why Third Way’s $15M anti-DSA campaign weakens Democrats when voters need healthcare, housing, wages, and democracy

  4. [Puts on broken record] you can't just replace Jew with another word and think this shit is now ok.

"A #Brooklyn #DemocraticParty official is facing renewed accusations of #antisemitism and calls to resign after blaming “#Zionists” for a bitter dispute over her family’s #BedfordStuyvesant brownstone and comparing the case to #Israeli policies in #Judea and #Samaria.

#CarmellaCharrington, a #Democratic district leader representing part of central Brooklyn, made the remarks during a recent interview with #Egyptian #podcaster #RahaZein while discussing the long-running legal fight surrounding her family home.

“They’re Zionists that basically did this,” #Charrington said. “Same thing that they’re doing in the #WestBank, it’s the same thing. There’s a connection.”

The remarks brought renewed scrutiny to Charrington less than two months after she faced criticism for promoting a video centered on #HenryFord’s notoriously #antisemitic publication The International #Jew."

  5. "Most of the participants liked and reposted content on X and got served more of the same sort of content. Replying was rare, just 6.8% of the interactions according to the study, but had an outsized impact on the algorithm. “Replying is only a fraction of engagement, but there does seem to be some evidence that these algorithms are prioritizing and learning more from this kind of rarer form of engagement,” Epstein said. “So it’s this feedback loop of outrage baiting. The algorithm learns that you get outraged and then continues to serve more content in that direction and that seems to be particularly true of the Democratic users of our study.”

Though this happened across the political spectrum, the study found that ragebaiting occurred more for users that identified themselves as Democrats. “Democrat users confront the abundant value-misaligned content by replying to it, which the algorithm in turn preferentially learns from and continues to feed them,” the study said. “This highlights a core tension with how engagement-maximizing algorithms operate on social media: frictions between users’ stated preferences and their behaviors of reactive confrontation are exploited by engagement-maximizing algorithms to create runaway feedback loops of increasing value misalignment.”"

  6. Insurgent Candidate Victories Highlight Growing Movement Against #Corporate & #Elite Power: #JohnNichols

    #DemocracyNow, August 05, 2026

Excerpt: "AMY GOODMAN: And let’s go to #WilliamLawrence of the #SunriseMovement

    JOHN NICHOLS: Yeah.

AMY GOODMAN: — who we just mentioned, who won his primary, a co-founder of the Sunrise Movement, defeated two opponents to win the Democratic House primary in Michigan’s 7th District, focusing partly on what you just mentioned: #AIDatacenters . This is one of his ads.

' WILLIAM LAWRENCE: I’m #WillLawrence. And #TechBillionaires want to turn this whole field into a massive #datacenter that’ll jack up our energy bills and ruin our home values.

RANDY: They put that in, it’s going to plummet the values. It’s an existential threat.

WILLIAM LAWRENCE: I’m running for U.S. Congress because I’ve been afraid to stand up to corporate power. I’m backed by #BernieSanders, and I don’t take a dime from #CorporatePACs . '

ANJALI KAMAT: And in Michigan’s 13th Congressional District, #DonavanMcKinney, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, has a narrow lead over Congressman Shri Thanedar. This is a part of one of McKinney’s ads.

' DONAVAN McKINNEY: #ShriThanedar and the same #billionaires supporting #DonaldTrump are spending millions lying to you. They know that in Congress, Shri fights for them. I will fight for us — lower costs, higher wages, #MedicareForAll . '

ANJALI KAMAT: #AbbasAlawieh also won the Democratic primary for a seat in the Michigan state Senate. He was a co-founder of the #UncommittedMovement, which pushed for President Biden, and then Kamala Harris, to end U.S. support for Israel’s #WarOnGaza. This is Abbas speaking outside the DNC, the Democratic National Convention, in 2024, where the Uncommitted Movement pushed to include a #Palestinian voice at the convention.

'ABBAS ALAWIEH: Here is the scandal, my friends. Here is the scandal. The scandal is that there are forces within #DemocraticParty leadership who do not want us to talk about #Palestinian #HumanRights. But that’s not sustainable. This is a watershed moment. '

ANJALI KAMAT: John Nichols, can you talk about some of these other key races in Michigan and other states where progressives were challenging more establishment candidates, and just what you think is most important as a takeaway from yesterday’s primaries?

JOHN NICHOLS: I sure can. I’m delighted to do it, because the fact of the matter is that our national media too often focuses on the top-line races and misses the real dynamic, which you start to recognize is when you go down-ballot and you look at contests for U.S. House seats and for legislative seats.

And if you look in Michigan, what you’re seeing is, with Will Lawrence, an example of a real breakthrough win for a young candidate who ran a campaign on dynamic, fresh issues, including data centers. With #DonavanMcKinney, that’s still a close race. There are votes still to be counted there. But this is an incredible thing, because this is a candidate who didn’t have anywhere near the kind of money that his opponent did, and yet, with a real grassroots campaign on the ground there in Detroit and that region, ran very, very well.

And if we move beyond Michigan and you look around the country, what you’re going to see is that Tuesday night was a very good night for insurgent candidacies and for outsiders. In the #Missouri governor’s race, what you saw was kind of a remarkable result. #CindyHolscher, who’s a state senator out there and came from the outside — she wasn’t backed by the sitting governor, she wasn’t backed by a lot of Democratic Party leaders, and yet she won her primary for governor. And she did it by talking, again, about data centers and making that a very central part of her campaign. We’re starting to see a thread here. "

"[U]nlike the Uncommitted Movement of 2024—which sought to use their leverage as voters to pressure the Biden, and ultimately Harris, campaign into adopting the both morally and politically correct position of ending support for genocide—the emerging Centrist Uncommitted movement is animated, in large part, by their support for genocide and lockstep support for #Israel." - #AdamJohnson

  8. CW: USPol / US politics

So six Democratic congresscritters crossed the aisle to pass the latest defence spending bill - not that unusual, given their swing districts and being up for election - but they did so with the "SAVE" act attached to it.

Apparently, they have all the self-preservation instinct of the mythical #lemmings from Mutual of Omaha's Wild Fabrication. Because the entire point of the #SAVE act is to disenfranchise as many Democratic-leaning voters as possible. This isn't speculation; it's easy to read in the measures that it calls for, but more than that, #Trump has explicitly described it that way over the last few months.

The #Democrats frequently do not need the #GOP to ratf*ck them [1]; as here, they're quite capable of doing it to themselves.

Everyone who cares about preserving #US democracy, such as it is, needs to yell at their #senators to ensure this monstrosity doesn't pass in the Senate. There's been lots of talk of it not having the votes there, but that was said about other things that (eventually) got passed as well.

[1] Don't blame me for the language. A US president brought the term into wide use.

  10. Asajew bomb 😬

"#CNN anchor #ElexMichaelson raised eyebrows this week with his closing comment moderating a panel discussion on possible contenders in the 2028 #DemocraticParty presidential primary, offering his take on what might differentiate Sen. #JonOssoff (D-GA) from #Pennsylvania Gov. #JoshShapiro (D) – how #Jewish they “read” to voters.

As the Tuesday evening conversation wound down, panelist and YouTuber #EricMessersmith argued, “But on the Jewish thing, because he is Jewish, he might be the #Democrat that can thread the needle. Because even though he’s Jewish, he’s very critical of the #Israeli government, very critical of #BenjaminNetanyahu. He has credibility on that issue. So it’s possible—I think he could fill that lane in between the two extremes of the #DemocraticParty.”

#Michaelson then wrapped up the discussion, “Yeah, as a #Jew, some people read a little more Jewish than other people, and John Ossoff may not read as Jewish as Josh Shapiro does[...]"

  12. Theodore is 22 years old. He just got a $30 million investment via Lux Capital valuing his new "perpetual futures" exchange at $300 million.
Lux Capital is a venture capital firm based in New York City. It holds assets in AI, defense and biotech.

"For her part, Senator Gillibrand has been a key Democratic ally for the crypto industry, which itself is an advocate for perpetual [futures]. The New York senator was part of a group of lawmakers who first introduced the Genius Act, or legislation that regulates stablecoins, a type of cryptocurrency pegged to real-world assets like the U.S. dollar. President Donald Trump signed the bill into law in July.

  13. This part of Senator Chris Murphy’s interview isn’t getting enough attention. And it should be, because it’s so emblematic of the entire party’s posture toward the Republicans.
