I just watched this video, & found it to be an extremely profound & heartfelt analysis of the prejudice against middle easterners, with heartbreaking personal anecdotes of the abuses the writer himself suffered at the hands of racists.
One of the greatest insights not explicit in the video, that became evident to me only after watching the video, was the fact that reverse hierarchical discrimination, whilst typically minor in isolation due to targeting those with the most means to defend themselves, often intersects with other forms of oppression. The video contains an example of what amounts to misandry being supercharged from a minor annoyance to a life-threatening event due to the intersection of misandry with islamophobia. The use of reverse hierarchical discrimination is often a cover for oppressing those at the lower end of another hierarchy. Think TERFs attacking trans women by associating them with men, in addition to the anecdote from the video.
In between the masterfully expressed & highly personal descriptions of prejudice against middle easterners, the writer himself expresses severe prejudice against children. He berates lack of nuance on the discussion of these topics as childish, itself doing the same thing to children that racist westerners did to him, namely assuming a sort of backwardness applies to the whole of a group because unequal opportunities caused it in a subsection of a group. Thus, adults here are berated for being like "children" for expressing what are quite evidently behaviors which are not essentially childish, much like how he was thought by racists not to respect consent by westerners who evidently did not themselves respect consent. Lack of respect for consent is not essentially middle eastern! Lack of nuance is not essentially childish! Identity is based on use, not essence, & these uses are based on prejudice as often, or perhaps more often, as they are based on self-identification.
Overall, in spite of the abrasive & hypocritical tone(which is mostly reserved to the first, more impersonal half), I would strongly recommend yall to check out this video. The anecdotes especially are extremely useful. #orientalism #racism #islamophobia #politics

Across Europe, the far-right is rebranding itself as uniquely equipped to protect LGBTQ+ communities from homophobic violence.
This isn't a genuine ideological shift, but an insidious form of "pinkwashing", aimed at targeting Muslim and migrant communities.
In Europe, the treatment of queer people has been weaponised as a metric of "civilisational" progress. The far-right paints Muslims and migrants as threats to "Western values" - claiming they are inherently homophobic, misogynistic or violent.
By co-opting progressive vocabulary, the far-right launders its extremist image, positioning itself as the defender of Western liberal values against a "backward other".
By aiming to pit LGBTQ+ and Muslim communities against one another it creates a false choice between queer safety and anti-racism.
It erases the fact that so many queer and trans people are also members of racialises communities. It also ignores the notoriously homophobic, misogynistic and violent agendas of Europe's far-right parties.
