  1. Emulating Dan Osborne, Nebraska Independent Targets Corporate Greed in #US House Run
Austin Ahlman argued that “it’s Tyson; it’s Google; it’s Facebook; it’s every other corporation that is putting the squeeze and pressure on communities like mine and ripping us apart” that are “stealing your way of life.”

As the winner of the #DemocraticParty US Senate primary in #Nebraska mulls dropping out to boost Independent #DanOsborn, another congressional candidate not tied to either major political party launched a campaign for the state’s 1st Congressional District on Thursday.

Joining incumbent #GOP Rep. #MikeFlood and #Democratic primary winner Chris Backemeyer is #AustinAhlman, a 28-year-old investigative journalist, anti-monopolist, and self-described “insurgent Independent running in NE-01 to fight for the little guy.”

  2. "As Kamala Harris weighs another run in 2028, the #DemocraticParty faces a split over #Israel policy. A new report suggests it may have cost votes in 2024. With a base that has shifted dramatically, can the party keep up with what its voters now expect?"

  3. Well, if #DemocraticParty leaders who don't live in #Maine feel entitled to select our candidates, then this #DemocraticSocialist has no problem temporarily registering as a #Democrat for the upcoming primaries to help select candidates! And Maine allows us to vote for a party in a primary without leaving our parties, which works for me!

  4. #DemocraticParty Leaders Wanted to Control the #Maine Senate Race. Their Pick Just Dropped Out.

#JanetMills dropped out of the Senate race against #GrahamPlatner, despite the establishment’s longtime support for the Maine governor.

by Akela Lacy, April 30 2026

Excerpt: "Mills’s exit less than six weeks before the June primary clears the path for populist candidate Graham Platner, now the presumed nominee, to face off against incumbent Republican Sen. Susan Collins in the November general election after the party worked to subdue Platner’s campaign. The Democratic Party’s decision to wade into the primary at all had reignited a criticism that the Democratic establishment would stop at nothing to keep progressives out of Congress.

"The upset marks 'a massive embarrassment for #ChuckSchumer and #DSCC operatives,' a Democratic strategist told The Intercept, speaking on the condition of anonymity for fear of professional reprisal. 'This was their star recruit and she couldn’t even make it to the election. No longer can they be the gatekeepers.' "

  5. #MaineDems to Vote on Condemning #DCCC Interference in House Primary

National #Democrats put their weight behind a candidate in Maine’s hotly contested House race just weeks before the primary. Locals are pissed.

by Noah Hurowitz, May 7 2026

" 'The fact that the national #DemocraticParty would come in and try to decide this primary literally weeks before we vote is just another example of how broken our Democratic leadership is,' [Jordan Wood] said."

  6. Democratic Majority for Israel #DMFI is a lobbying group advocating pro-Israel policies within the Democratic Party.
They had cancelled their ads in NE-02 after the beneficiary, New Dem-endorsed Denise Powell, had disavowed support from pro-Israel PACs.
Now they are running ads in NE-02 through a shell PAC called "Pro-Choice Majority 2026," which has the same campaign treasurer.

#Platner spoke about the struggles of working people for whom a decent life seemed out of reach, about the disastrous #wars he’d fought in Iraq and Afghanistan, and about the need for a #DemocraticParty with New Deal-scale ambitions.

Since then, #GrahamPlatner has used his campaign to organize for causes besides his own election. He rallied against a ballot initiative that would have required voter ID and restricted absentee voting. (It lost.) When ICE came to Lewiston, Maine, a town with a significant Somali population, he urged people to resist the agency the way that the citizens of Minneapolis had, celebrating those who, as he said in a fiery speech, “do real things to impede #ICE’s operations and physically protect our communities.” He collects donations for food pantries at his events.

The mainstream Democrats desperately need to get beyond their cheery

  10. Republicans: We'll redraw our districts to hold a narrow majority in the House.

#Virginia Democrats: We'll hold an election on a map that would give us a boost. Oh, and we'll pepper the proposition with loaded language like "restor[ing] fairness".

It follows that one side moving the goal posts will lead to the other moving theirs. In the end, though, it is a zero-sum game that only fuels discontent among those who feel their votes are being ignored.

[written by a former #Obama admin national security official]

“I don’t want other young Americans to go through what I’ve been through. And I don’t want to send other young Americans to inflict the horror that I had to inflict on people.”

Polling suggests that most Americans agree with him. So does the feedback he gets day to day. The people he meets overwhelmingly oppose the #war; many are furious or heartbroken about it. That includes his fellow veterans. “I don’t know a single guy I served with who thinks this thing in #Iran is a good idea,” he told me. Many of those guys are #MAGA. “This was one of the reasons they were big Trump supporters — he was the #antiwar or ‘America first’ candidate.”

A Virginia Democrat rejects counter-gerrymandering on principle—but this stance may hand power to GOP manipulation. Strategy, not purity, decides political outcomes.
