  2. Stan Beshear wrote about a winner at yesterday's Congressional primary in New Hampshire:
"This is actually a BIG primary victory for the left. Shaheen pivoted left in the last few weeks, supporting #MedicareForAll, a data center moratorium, and an arms embargo on Israel. Her primary opponent, Maura Sullivan, was attacked for taking money from AIPAC."

  3. CW: Occasional Foul Language. Always Political.

50501 Rising Star & candidate Jeromie Whalen (D), who is running for Congress in MA-1 on Tuesday, talks about Medicare-for-All while grilling his opponent, Rep Richard Neal on his blatant corruption. Go Jeromie!

I forgot to add that true #SinglePayer #MedicareForAll also absolves employers, aka “the business community”, of the absurd responsibility of providing healthcare insurance. It’s a “pro-business” policy.

  5. @markmetz

While traveling in Asia, I got very sick and had to get care. The hotel clerk sent me to a clinic where late night (almost midnight) emergency care cost me, a foreigner, apx US$20 including the necessary prescription. My copay for a regular doctor visit in the US costs more than that.

It is long, LONG past time for the #USA to have #MedicareForAll or some other sort of universal #healthcare.

  6. "Imagine a world where #health insurance wasn’t tied to your #job. Where employers didn’t have to negotiate w/health insurance companies... A world where you don’t have to worry about making “too much money,” so that you lose your comprehensive #healthcare (most people who work & receive #Medicaid are in jobs that don’t provide #insurance). That’s a world with #MedicareForAll...

health care shouldn’t be a luxury that only the rich can afford."

  7. "The counter to this chaos is simple—and it’s something we’re starting to hear about on the stump from Democratic candidates....

We could have a national health insurance program, better known as “Medicare for All.” Given the wreckage of the #Trump era, Medicare for All has a lot to recommend."

  8. #McConnell, out sick for two months, voted against medical leave 23 times since 1985

by Judd Legum, Rebecca Crosby, and Noel Sims, Aug 13, 2026

"Senator #MitchMcConnell (R-KY) was hospitalized on June 14 after suffering a fall that left him unconscious. He remained hospitalized until mid-July, when he was transferred to a rehabilitation center. On August 6, McConnell announced that he was discharged and was continuing his recovery at home.

"But, two months later, McConnell has not returned to work in the Senate. Over that period of time, he has missed 59 floor votes. Nevertheless, McConnell has continued to receive his Senate salary of $174,000 per year [!!!].

"McConnell is fortunate to be employed in a job with excellent benefits. There is no federal law, however, that provides guaranteed paid sick leave. In 2025, about 27 million private sector workers had no paid sick leave.

    "One reason: Mitch McConnell."

  13. RE: flipboard.com/@kpbspublicmedia

#Trumporrhea is definitely not a ‘peaceful’ way to die, but if you have serious pre-existing conditions and consumed #TaylorFarms lettuce 🥬 tainted with #cyclospora in #Michigan and death ☠️ in inevitable, then *today* was the perfect day to ‘buy the farm’.

What better way to poignantly remind #MIsen voters that #MedicareForAll is on the #Democratic primary ballot tomorrow!

  14. @rbreich As Australians, we need to take this report as a serious warning. The for-profit healthcare system in the US is a glaring example of how privatisation can lead to worse outcomes, higher costs, and inequity in care. Our Medicare system is something to be proud of, but we're at risk of heading down the same path of privatising our public hospitals and healthcare. Do we really want to follow a model where profits come before patients? We must protect and strengthen our public healthcare system, not give it away to offshore interests.
