  1. "EFF sued the government back in March for information about the Wasteful and Inappropriate Service Reduction (WISeR) model, a new Medicare program that uses AI to evaluate prior authorization requests for certain medical services. Today, we’re releasing approximately 1,000 pages of records obtained from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) through this litigation, including contracts with tech companies, internal status reports and providers’ complaints about the program. The documents (available here) show that WISeR has resulted in widespread delays and denials of care, operational chaos, and reports of patient harm."

  2. In my rural state of #Vemont, and I presume others, all the #hospitals have ceased to operate birthing centers and #OBGYN clinics due to the Big Beautiful Budget elimination of #Medicaid and imminent scrapping, at years' end, to the #Medicare reimbursements upon which hospitals have also been made to rely, while the Private #Insurance (reimbursement-collection & service-denial) Industry has been greenlighted to raise premiums out of reach for a third to half of households while remaining nonresponsible for any such coverage.

    Probably all coincidental. #healthcare #medicalNews #healthNews #financialNews #redistribution #plutocracy #plunder #healthcareIsAHumanRight #nvma

  3. For folks on Medicare or about to be, DO NOT be tempted to call Chapter for "free Medicare advice". It was co-founded by Vivek Ramaswamy and:

"The startup has at least historical links to the Trump administration, including to current Vice President JD Vance and tech billionaire Peter Thiel, who helped fuel Vance's rise in politics. Narya Capital, which Vance founded before leaving to run for office, led Chapter's Series A funding; Thiel has invested in the company, and at one time, held a seat on the board, according to TechCrunch.

Blumenfeld-Gantz said Vance has no involvement in Chapter.

It's worth noting Ramaswamy was previously involved with the so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), along with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, which critics say could affect Medicare's ability to perform business as usual."

  4. Back in 2005, the guy I was living with at the time told me about a method for relieving stress based on meridian points like acupuncture or acupressure. it's called EFT or Tapping.

I've used it irregularly over the years, and sometimes it's been incredibly helpful and other times helpful in a minor way.

Imagine my surprise when this weird thing you do - tapping on different acupuncture points on your face and hands and upper body - is now covered by Medicare.

In the 20+ years that I've been using it there have been hundreds of studies that show that EFT actually works, not just qualitative studies but also quantitative study using MRIs and others using measurements of cortisol to indicate stress levels. In other words, it's weird but as far as we can tell it's valid.

I don't talk about it a lot because again, it's pretty weird and a lot of people think I'm weird enough. But if you are a senior living in the US, covered by Medicare, you might be interested in looking this information over. I'm not proselytizing, but I do feel it's important enough to share.

In my experience, it helps with pain, it helps with anxiety.

If you have questions feel free to ask me. If you're a jerk about it, you'll be blocked.

"Medicare has a new program called the ACCESS Model. In plain terms, it's Medicare paying for digital health programs that help people with certain conditions, the same way it pays for other care. NeuroTap Health is a participant. So for eligible adults with Original Medicare, Medicare pays for the program."

  10. Your Medicare has a gap no one talks about

Medicare covers most medical costs, but there’s one enormous expense it barely touches.

Private Healthcare Providers are simply #Leeches and #Unethical ones at that.

That is not to say that the health workers they employ share the same social guilt. I’d wager most workers do in fact care for patients unlike their #Grifting corporate employers and the #Usurious #Insurance companies.

Making a #Living from providing healthcare services is socially responsible.

    Making a #Profit from healthcare is #Inhuman.

The #NationalDebt surpassed a record $40 trillion Wednesday, a staggering milestone as #defense costs, #social programs like #SocialSecurity & #Medicare & interest on the burgeoning #deficit to make up an enormous share of federal spending.

The milestone figure was recorded just 5 months after the US hit a record $39 trillion debt in March. It reached $38 trillion 5 months before that, in October [all under #Trump’s watch].

#Trump said: “It’s not possible for us to take care of #daycare, #Medicaid, #Medicare, all these individual things... We have to take care of one thing: #military protection."
And his proposed budget backs that up: he’s asking #Congress to slash $83 billion from your #healthcare, #education, and #$cleanenergy while pouring $1.5 trillion into the military to fuel his illegal #Iran #war.

  16. Mills: Oz's fraud allegations pull from 'malicious playbook' for targeting #Trump's political foes

Maine Public | By Steve Mistler
    Published February 9, 2026

"Gov. #JanetMills says the #Trump administration is using findings from a routine social services audit to drum up allegations of fraud for political purposes. The governor's comments follow threats from a top #Medicaid official to cut off the state's federal funding.

"In the past several days, Centers for #Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator #MehmetOz has made allegations of widespread fraud in Maine's social services programs, at one point drawing comparisons to the scandal unfolding in #Minnesota.

"In a recently posted social media video, the former celebrity TV doctor suggested that Maine could lose its federal Medicaid funding.

" 'If we don't like what we see, CMS will work with Maine to put their house in order. And if we're not satisfied with their progress, we reserve the right to cut off their payments entirely,' he said.

"Those threats follow a recent audit by the Office of Inspector General that found the state made $45.6 million in improper payments to providers for #autism services. That review, initiated during the Biden administration, did not allege fraud, which is different than improper payments. However, the state may have to pay back $28.7 million to the federal government.

"Mills, a Democrat running for the U.S. Senate, said in a statement Monday that Oz's statements mark another example of the Trump administration's 'malicious playbook' of targeting its political opponents.

" 'Let’s be clear about what this is: Maine is facing a political attack from a president who uses allegations of fraud as a pretense to send (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) and other weaponized federal agents into states led by Democrats with devastating consequences,' she said in a statement."

Excerpt: "While it remains unclear exactly what data will be collected, under the presented platform NIH researchers could have access to:

    - Americans’ #prescription information, including the type of medication and how they are prescribed
    - Data collected during medical studies in a multitude of areas and from public and private institutions
    - Data collected from peoples’ #smartwatches, which can range from heart health to sleep patterns
    - #Claims from private insurers that can cover items such as lengthy hospital stays, #screening and testing

    TLDR? Have #medicare ( #CMS ) pay them more. #healthinsurance too

This has been discussed in the media and a big subject of advocacy for decades but apparently you can still publish a paper about it now.
