  1. "EFF sued the government back in March for information about the Wasteful and Inappropriate Service Reduction (WISeR) model, a new Medicare program that uses AI to evaluate prior authorization requests for certain medical services. Today, we’re releasing approximately 1,000 pages of records obtained from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) through this litigation, including contracts with tech companies, internal status reports and providers’ complaints about the program. The documents (available here) show that WISeR has resulted in widespread delays and denials of care, operational chaos, and reports of patient harm."

  11. For folks on Medicare or about to be, DO NOT be tempted to call Chapter for "free Medicare advice". It was co-founded by Vivek Ramaswamy and:

"The startup has at least historical links to the Trump administration, including to current Vice President JD Vance and tech billionaire Peter Thiel, who helped fuel Vance's rise in politics. Narya Capital, which Vance founded before leaving to run for office, led Chapter's Series A funding; Thiel has invested in the company, and at one time, held a seat on the board, according to TechCrunch.

Blumenfeld-Gantz said Vance has no involvement in Chapter.

It's worth noting Ramaswamy was previously involved with the so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), along with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, which critics say could affect Medicare's ability to perform business as usual."

  16. Back in 2005, the guy I was living with at the time told me about a method for relieving stress based on meridian points like acupuncture or acupressure. it's called EFT or Tapping.

I've used it irregularly over the years, and sometimes it's been incredibly helpful and other times helpful in a minor way.

Imagine my surprise when this weird thing you do - tapping on different acupuncture points on your face and hands and upper body - is now covered by Medicare.

In the 20+ years that I've been using it there have been hundreds of studies that show that EFT actually works, not just qualitative studies but also quantitative study using MRIs and others using measurements of cortisol to indicate stress levels. In other words, it's weird but as far as we can tell it's valid.

I don't talk about it a lot because again, it's pretty weird and a lot of people think I'm weird enough. But if you are a senior living in the US, covered by Medicare, you might be interested in looking this information over. I'm not proselytizing, but I do feel it's important enough to share.

In my experience, it helps with pain, it helps with anxiety.

If you have questions feel free to ask me. If you're a jerk about it, you'll be blocked.

"Medicare has a new program called the ACCESS Model. In plain terms, it's Medicare paying for digital health programs that help people with certain conditions, the same way it pays for other care. NeuroTap Health is a participant. So for eligible adults with Original Medicare, Medicare pays for the program."
