So, I'm really digging the idea of having a #ToolLibrary that accepts #TimeBasedCurrency instead of dollars! Wow! I used to be part of the #PortlandME #TimeDollarNetwork (which is still around), and one could even use #TimeDollars to rent #CommunitySpace for events! Having more #TimeBanks is one way to wean ourselves off of #petrodollars and #technodollars!

No proper maker yard without a proper flag. One of our members took the initiative and ordered a Munich Maker Lab flag to make our space easier to find in the industrial area and somehow we ended up with two delivered. A happy accident, because now we also have a great banner inside the space, so no one can miss where they are.

This is me standing on the old walls of Cork where I took this photo in Bishop Lucey Park yesterday afternoon. The sun had already started to head to the horizon and it wasn’t even 3pm, but it did light up the mural on the wall and placed the ground in front of me in shadow.
For many in Ireland, November is firmly in the winter months of the year. It seems to be a traditional Irish/Celtic thing because Met Éireann uses meteorological seasons which classify September, October and November as autumn.

Sep 18, 2024 - "U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development Maine State Director Rhiannon Hampson today announced a Community Facilities grant of $2M for the Town of Hollis. The York County town will use the grant towards the construction of a new town hall and community center."

So, a #CommunitySpace is being built in #HollisMaine. In addition to housing the town's government, it will also be a #ThirdSpace and #EmergencyShelter for local residents. (Also, when I searched for more information, I found the #USDA press release about the project had been DELETED! But that's a rant for another time...)
"Once complete, the structure will house the offices of the town staff, the Select Board and Planning Board, as well as services such as motor vehicle registration and General Assistance access.
"There will be a large multipurpose room for public meetings and events. Most of these features will be on the ground floor, with ample room for expansion as needed in the future thanks to a full daylight basement.
"With climate change and severe storms in mind, town leaders also plan to use the new facility as an emergency shelter.
"'In the last year we had two major storms that put the power out for two to five days a lot of people, and we didn’t have anywhere for people to go to warm up, charge their phones, and so forth,' said Mary Hoffman, who is on the town select board.
"The energy-efficient, spacious and accessible new town office will provide a warm shelter during future power outages or other emergencies.
"Another beneficiary of the larger building slated to open next year will be the town’s Parks and Recreation Department, which will have more storage space and more options for evening activities."

If only publicly-owned and community-owned buildings were as easily available for non-commercial gatherings of citizens and community members, as are groups on DataFarming online platforms.
Maybe then we'd all spend less time online getting predated on by corporations, and more time getting to know the people we share our neighborhoods, towns, cities and countries with.
