  2. We know that book bans aren’t limited to schools; they stretch behind bars, too. So this June 11, on International Day of Solidarity with Long-Term Anarchist Prisoners (@june11), along with our friends at @BlueRidgeABC and Tranzmission Prison Project, we’re hosting a Banned Books Back! packaging party to raise funds for freedom fighters inside the prison system. Anyone, near or far, can pledge a donation for every book bundle we pack, starting at 5 cents per bundle. Sign up now at bit.ly/j11-pledge! Our co-op is matching $1 per bundle 💸

Community members are invited to join us at 5:30 pm for food, informal conversations, and free literature about June 11. Then, at 6:30 pm, pitch in on the fun of packaging free chapter books for kids in Florida!

Free minds, free them all, until all are free!

  3. 💗 Tomorrow 💗 Tune in for this virtual event to learn about the life and work of sexologist Dr. Alex Comfort!

Eric Laursen will be joined by @margaret to discuss the impact of the groundbreaking 1972 book "The Joy of Sex," and the anarchic author who brought pleasure out from the shadows in mainstream sexual discourse.

"Polymath is a captivating, illuminating, and penetrating account of Alex Comfort’s life and work. Eric Laursen brilliantly captures the ambience of Comfort’s times to reveal the inventiveness of his thinking and explain his interventions. His impressive research does not shy away from Comfort’s intellectual accomplishments. It underlines the consistency of Comfort’s creative application of anarchist principles and his optimistic view of anarchism as a path to liberation and community." —Ruth Kinna, author of The Government of No One

  4. When it was published in 1972, "The Joy of Sex" was the first mass-market book to offer a playful and pleasure-centered approach to sexual education. The text was enormously successful, eventually making its way into twelve million homes. In a new book, "Polymath: The Life and Professions of Dr. Alex Comfort, Author of The Joy of Sex," Eric Laursen tells the story of the iconic sex manual's eccentric author, a British physician and wide-ranging intellectual who passionately espoused anarchism, pacifism, and civil disobedience.

Later this month we'll be discussing the life of Alex Comfort with biographer Eric Laursen and @margaret Killjoy, host of the "Cool People Who Did Cool Stuff" podcast. Register for free and grab the book at firestorm.coop/events/3108-the. Not sure if you can make the event? Sign up anyway and you'll receive a link to the recorded conversation when we post it!
