One of our members built a 3D printed Battle/Death Racer. If you haven't heard of them: Death Racers are small motorized vehicles where the goal is to knock the hat off the other rider's figure. The more racers, the better the duels.

Now he just needs a few more makers to build their own so the battles can finally begin.

We got a new table saw and had the chance to test its additional safety feature, which helps prevent injuries from contact with body parts.

No wiener was seriously harmed in this experiment! We hope to integrate the saw into our current setup soon.

The main visual part of this project is finished. It started during a lab reorganization: old components that still work but disappear forever once they go back in the box. So we put them on the wall instead — breadboards, opened devices, circuit boards on display for everyone to see and take if useful.

Small repairs, real impact: the dishwasher wheels had gone brittle over the years. Chris and Chris designed and printed replacements. The first PLA version got a flat right away, but ABS holds. Also rescued: a thyme shaker with a broken lid, now fitted with a new printed lid featuring a "T" hole.

Two members rescued a lonely bike from the trash. Since both wanted to learn more about bike repair, they went all in: completely disassembled it, cleaned and oiled all the important parts, repainted the frame and put it all back together. The result is a nicely refreshed retro bike.

Our Bluetooth sound panel was getting buggy, so one motivated member rebuilt it from scratch using our electronics stock. The new MuMaLab Control Panel has soldered connections, industrial-grade buttons, a logarithmic fader and a sturdy TRS aux input. No more crackling, no more loose connectors.

No proper maker yard without a proper flag. One of our members took the initiative and ordered a Munich Maker Lab flag to make our space easier to find in the industrial area and somehow we ended up with two delivered. A happy accident, because now we also have a great banner inside the space, so no one can miss where they are.

One of our members collected some old wooden boards and crafted a cherry end grain cutting board from them. It took time, patience and a fair amount of effort, but the result turned out better than expected.

Recently, we helped out our neighbors from the Spectrum Maker Space. They had sourced a special rubber material to laser-cut a custom stamp, with the housing to be 3D printed on top of that.
The result is really nice and we are thinking now to make also custom stamps with our own Logo.

After selling our old DIY-built CNC machine, we now have a new one on loan from a member. Setup with housing and proper controls is in progress, hopefully ready soon. A great example of our free-to-use principle: members loaning their machines to the community when they don't need them at home.

After our recent hot sauce tasting, a member organized the next food challenge at the lab: an olive oil tasting. The goal was to find the best oil and put a classic assumption to the test, whether the more expensive oils are always the tastier ones.

The verdict? A very exclusive oil took the top spot, one that a member brings back directly from Italy on vacation. So if you want some, better let him know before his next trip.
