@[email protected] @[email protected] How does this impact accessibility tool such as screen readers if I were to use something like this in my writing?
#Accessability -
Hello fedi,
I am still interested in trying to make tables in geminispace that are accessible to blind users.
The trouble is that gemini's native markup format, gemtext, does not have tables.
Gemtext does have preformatted text blocks, so I tried making tables by manually lining up text.
but I was told that that sort of table is hard for people using screen readers to parse. So now I'm trying something else.Header Also a header Thing A thing Another thing
I made two copies of each table: one is preformatted text that I manually lined up, aimed at sighted-users. The other copy is a csv file. I link to the csv file right under the preformatted text.
If you have a gemini browser installed, you can see the results right heregemini://pandorastale.wiki/Main/Chapters.gmi
If you don't have a gemini browser installed, you can see it through a regular web browser here:
https://pandorastale.wiki/Main/Chapters.gmi
Note that if you click on the csv link from Firefox or Chromium, they try to download the csv file instead of displaying it in browser, while Gnome Web/Epiphany (and so maybe Safari?) will display it in-browser.
So my question to users of screen readers is, does this work? Can you actually read the table?
How does it compare with the MediaWiki version of the same information?

Good news: We (me and my partner) will get new glasses covered by KELA so my migraines should reduce a bit more. (: Shame we can't afford the color-shade things on them to reduce how flashing lights and bright conditions screw with eyeballs, but at least seeing better will be excellent.
Neurologist also couldn't write a statement to get them, which is an accessability fail in my opinion.

Is there a way to select the highest contrast rating between two colours based on a third colour using entirely HTML+CSS?
My specific use case is to select white or black foreground text based off a varying background colour.
JavaScript is not what I'm looking for here. And my familiarity with CSS has so far been dealing with transformations, and everything that was in CSS2 (I'm feeling old writing that). #wcag #accessability #lazyWeb

Does anyone know if it possible to reduce/remove the AGGRESSIVE flashing lights in the game "Crisol Theatre of Idols"??
I would want to buy it, as it seems to be exactly what I love in games (asthetically, combat looks cool, UI is beautiful, and I am here for the lore) - but I just checked gameplay of it and it has insane flashing in cutscenes. This is the only big obstacle I have for it. )*:

AdGuard has declined to change the default coloration of icons in the "App Management" tab of AdGuard for Windows, despite accessibility concerns.
However, AdGuard has said they plan to introduce a high contrast theme some time in the future.https://github.com/AdguardTeam/AdguardForWindows/issues/5914

I've used a mobility scooter a few times in my area and it really does hit you how annoying it is to ride off a kerb only to find there's not a drop the other side and you're stuck in a road at a height many won't see. Also people just standing in the middle of a path not noticing you and chatting away (twice on a 20 minute journey tesr both happened today)

Dandelion Sprout has raised a valid accessibility issue with AdGuard for Windows.
In the "app management" tab, the options for each app are shown through small icons. If something is on, it is light green. If it is off, it is light grey. There is no other distinction on this page.
Even as someone who isn't colorblind and has ok vision (and an ok monitor), the two look way to close.https://github.com/AdguardTeam/AdguardForWindows/issues/5914

👋 Hello Canadian 🇨🇦 Fediverse
Needing 🦽 Advice Please 👋I would very much appreciate recommendations for companies/sources for a manual wheelchair for a disabled senior. ♿
The person using it is Not capable of maneuvering an electric one -and they are Not allowed for use at the retirement home-and one arm is too weak to push himself using a manual wheelchair, so it's up to me, a senior to assist, therefore, it needs to be lightweight but sturdy enough for going over curbs and sidewalks, along country roads without a sidewalk, and to be safely anchored to a bus floor. (I do not want a 'transport' wheelchair --too flimsy)
Thanks for your guidance.🙂Boosts welcomed

PSA: if all you ever post is screenshots of other people's viral posts, but you omit the Alt-text, and you cannot be bothered to edit your post to add Alt-text even after other people comment to supply the Alt-text, then you're an absolute shit-heel and deserve to be blocked.

Same with Google Docs and other apps.
Use the built-in styles for headings.
Using the heading styles has several benefits:
• That text is formatted like a heading.
• Heading tagged for screen readers.
• Auto-included in table of contents.

Dear vibe coders,
Make me an iPhone app called Velma.
Launch Velma with “Siri, find my glasses”. Then wave the phone around the room until the camera detects glasses. Beep louder when they are centered and closer.
That’s the whole app! Thx.

After a long week of work, tried to the movies with my family in a nearby town to see Lilo and Stitch. They had capitviewer (closed captioned devices) . But the captions just kept displaying classic movie quotes while the movie was playing. Got a refund and movie passes. Might as well stick with my local theater from here on.Heh, Deaf life.
