  1. The Mayor of #London and #TfL have launched a new #Walking and #Wheeling Action Plan aimed at making streets safer, healthier and easier to use over the next decade. The strategy includes 1,000 new pedestrian crossings by 2031, wider use of School Streets, lower traffic speeds, upgraded town centres and improved walking links to stations and bus stops. A new riverside walking route is also planned by 2029. The plan is designed to encourage more daily walking, support local high streets and improve public health, while tackling barriers such as unsafe roads, pavement clutter and fear of crime. It also supports the Mayor’s target for 80 per cent of journeys in London to be made by walking, cycling or public #transport by 2041. TfL said the programme would be delivered with boroughs and local partners across the capital.

  5. #Transport for #London Freedom of Information release:

#TfL has released Ticketing & Revenue Update 159, outlining fare, ticketing and operational changes across the network. TfL confirmed the March 2026 fares revision was introduced without major disruption, with only a minor issue affecting a small number of devices later resolved. The next fares update is scheduled for 7 July 2026.

The report details the continued expansion of contactless pay-as-you-go under Project Oval, with 20 more Greater Anglia stations added in March, taking the total outside the standard zones to 103. TfL said the wider programme aims to simplify fares and expand tap-in, tap-out travel across the South East.

The update also covers anti-fraud initiatives, a London Overground operator change to First Rail London, staff travel arrangements, and maintenance guidance for ticket barriers and station signage.

Insights will help reduce congestion and support the Mayor’s target for 80% of trips by active travel or public transport by 2041.

The workshop involves parents or carers of children aged 4–11, new drivers aged 17–19, and residents aged 65 and over. Participants attend two one-hour in-person sessions on 12 June in Barking and Dagenham and 22 June at TfL offices. The first explores travel motivations; the second reviews and judges ideas developed by #TfL staff.

Participants receive a £50 voucher. Places are limited and not guaranteed. Applications close 31 May 2026, with successful applicants notified by 5 June. Eligibility and demographic questions must be completed to apply.

  17. A Weekend Bus Hopper trial will be introduced on #Transport for #London #buses and trams for six weekends between 25 July and 31 August 2026, including the August bank holiday, under MD3502, a Mayoral decision by Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, in the Good Growth directorate. Across Saturdays and Sundays, travel will cost the price of a single daily fare per day. The trial aims to test whether simpler, lower weekend fares can increase ridership, support London’s economy, and ease cost-of-living pressures, with bus demand still around 8% below pre-pandemic levels. The Mayor has allocated £20 million in business rates funding to cover revenue impacts and implementation costs. #TfL will assess outcomes using ridership data and customer surveys, with findings used to inform future fares policy. Existing concessions remain unchanged, and standard fares will resume after the trial.

  27. #Transport for #London Freedom of Information release:

✈️ #TfL has released a February 2026 policy paper on Heathrow expansion following a Freedom of Information request. The document sets out TfL and the Mayor of London’s concerns over the environmental and transport impacts of a proposed third runway at #Heathrow. It warns expansion could increase aircraft movements by 58 per cent and add more than 40,000 daily vehicle trips unless major public transport investment is secured. The paper highlights risks to carbon targets, air quality, noise levels and road congestion, while noting changes since the original Airports National Policy Statement in 2018, including the Elizabeth line, #ULEZ expansion and tighter climate obligations. TfL says any revised policy must include binding environmental conditions, stronger public transport targets and safeguards to prevent worsening pollution and congestion.

#TfL is seeking views on proposed walking and cycling improvements at the A10 Great Cambridge Road and Lincoln Road junction. The consultation runs until Friday 13 March 2026. The plans aim to improve safety and access through upgraded pedestrian crossings on all arms, a new direct east–west signalised cycle crossing, wider footways and shared-use areas. Proposals include new or improved signalised, zebra and Toucan crossings, raised tables and wider central islands. Some vehicle movements would be restricted, including changes to service road access, the removal of certain left turns and the closure of a central reservation turn-around. Limited informal parking would be removed to maintain visibility. The scheme would link with the London Borough of Enfield’s planned #Enfield Town to Ponders End walking and cycling route. Bus services would remain unchanged, with limited long-term traffic impacts expected.
