#TfL said it does not hold heat alert guidance issued directly to bus drivers, as this is provided by individual bus operators. However, documents for operational staff show measures introduced during Amber and Red #UKHSA heat alerts in summer 2026. Amber alerts allowed extended driver comfort breaks with relaxed mileage penalties, alongside reminders on hydration, cold drinks, sun safety, relaxed uniforms and maintaining air conditioning. During Red alerts, TfL excluded performance data to prioritise driver welfare and allowed trip refusals because of excessively hot cabs under specific coding rules. Operators were instructed to check the UKHSA Heat-Health Alert dashboard daily for audit purposes, while mechanical air conditioning failures remained subject to standard maintenance procedures.

Britain could face food shortages as drought continues, farmers warn
#Britain could face shortages of certain #foods after punishing #drought in parts of #England, the National Farmers’ Union #NFU has warned as a heatwave was forecast to continue into next week.
The UK’s Health Security Agency #UKHSA has issued heat #health alerts for eight regions of England, with temperatures set to rise above 30C in parts of the country. UKHSA said rising temperatures may increase health risks, particularly for vulnerable groups.
Farms across the country were affected by #floods over the winter, making planting extremely difficult, and now in many areas they do not have access to #water as irrigation is being restricted due to drought.

At least the person in the photo has a fitted(ish) mask and not a "baggy blue". Well done to whoever selected that. One little step in the right direction.
