"TruStage has been working to restore its operations following a cyberattack that occurred six weeks ago, affecting a significant portion of its technology infrastructure.
This attack has disrupted services across its credit union members and consumers, leading to issues like delayed insurance payments, inaccessible retirement funds, and complexities in processing life insurance claims. According to TruStage's Outage Tracker, core services such as GAP and mechanical-repair claims, premium payments, and annuity transactions remain impacted. The company is urging credit unions to continue gathering claims-related documentation for follow-up once systems are fully restored.
Consumer Concerns Amid Disruptions
Consumers have expressed frustration over these ongoing disruptions. Platforms like Reddit and Trustpilot are flooded with reports from individuals struggling to process life insurance claims, some of which have yet to be resolved, putting families in financial strain. Delays in claims for #FuneralExpenses and #DisabilityBenefits amplify the concerns of those affected. #CreditUnions, operating under these circumstances, face their own reputational challenges as they address member inquiries without direct control over the recovery process.
TruStage Recovery Efforts & Assurance
Despite the hurdles, TruStage assures stakeholders that recovery efforts are progressing. Chief Administrative Officer Greg Holman communicated that service operations are improving, with resumed call center operations and the reinstatement of monthly ACH consumer billing. Efforts to restore #retirement and wealth management services have seen most plan participants regaining access to their funds. Notably, no annuity or retirement plan assets were compromised."
