Oof! Installed #macOS Tahoe on a partition because I need to find out if a certain application still works. It does, but with added bugs (which I can work around if need be). It’s to my understanding the contrast issues have improved a lot from the first release but dang my eyes still struggle with it.

Now installing Golden Gate to test that as well. Couldn’t do that from Sequoia for some reason.

My Mac hit critical memory twice in a week. I asked Claude Code to build a memory pressure menu bar app, and had it that day.

Its top 3 apps found two easy wins:
• Docker's VM: 8 GB with no container running, filled by an agent's builds. Settings → Resources → Memory limit: 4 GB.
• Chrome: 4.4 GB, one process per site. Settings → Performance → Memory Saver: Maximum.

Agents start heavy jobs you never see. Watch memory pressure.

Why does a web browser need 4.4 GB? I measured Chrome on my Mac: 27 processes, 3 GB of it in 10 tabs. Each site gets its own process and JavaScript engine, and a web app like Gmail or Jira holds hundreds of MB. Vivaldi, a second Chromium browser, pays it all again.

Chrome keeps everything loaded while memory is free. So in both, I moved Memory Saver from Balanced to Maximum: inactive tabs are dropped sooner and reload when I come back.

  • otrzymało możliwość wyświetlania otwartych zakładek z lewej strony (dotyczy iOS, iPadOS i macOS)
  • pojawiła się nowa funkcja Adaptive Dark Mode, która będzie się starała dostosować stronę nieobsługującą Dark Mode
  • w zaawansowanych opcjach pojawił się przełącznik „Użyj globalnej kontroli prywatności”
• pojawiły się nowe akcje dla Siri AI, m.in.:
  • możliwość anulowania subskrypcji i cofnięcie wysyłania wiadomości w aplikacji Mail
  • dodać lokalizację lub kontrolować powiadomienia w aplikacji Pogoda
  • usunąć historię przeglądania, zarządzać zakładkami i oknami, zapisywać artykuły i zamykać zduplikowane zakładki w aplikacji Safari
  • zarządzać plikami, usuwać nieużywane itp. akcje w aplikacji Pliki

• w Centrum sterowania przycisk VPN będzie umożliwiał też przełączanie się między skonfigurowanymi usługami, a nie tylko włączał i wyłączał
• w Apple Fitness+ pojawił się nowy trening Gym Strength, który tworzy dla nas 4-tygodniowy plan ćwiczeń
• w aplikacji Pogoda zaktualizowano UI o nowe elementy wspierające Liquid Glass

iPadOS 27.3 beta 1

iPady Pro i Air wyposażone w procesory M1 i nowsze (oraz modele mini z procesorami A17 Pro i A20 Pro) mogą w tej becie korzystać z trybu Siri dostępnego w aparacie. Po wykonaniu zdjęcia można zaznaczyć np. za pomocą Apple Pencil interesujący nas obszar, żeby otrzymać o nim informacje.

Oczywiście funkcja ta dostępna jest w krajach, gdzie można korzystać z Visual Intelligence.

watchOS 27.3 beta 1

Na najnowszych nosidłach (Apple Watch 12 oraz Ultra 4) można w tej becie testować nowe funkcje Audio Intelligence – Live Rewind oraz Siri Recap. To pierwsze narzędzie tworzy transkrypcję ostatnich 15 sekund konwersacji. Z kolei Siri Recap tworzy podsumowania z całego dnia tego, co słyszeliśmy.

macOS 27.3 Golden Gate beta 1

Markdown jest coraz bardziej wykorzystywany przez Apple. W związku z tym w najnowszej becie dodana została obsługa tych plików tekstowych dla narzędzia Szybkiego podglądu. Po wskazaniu pliku w Finderze i wciśnięciu spacji zobaczymy teraz sformatowany tekst.

Apple chce wykorzystywać dokumentację pisaną w Markdown między innymi do informacji na temat funkcji dodanych do Siri AI w aplikacjach firm trzecich.

No crashes on my MacBook since rolling back to macOS 26. Even with all the mission control shenanigans I want.

The most annoying thing is that I somehow set up a compose key before and cannot for the life of me remember how. I'm pretty sure I did not have Karabiner installed and the backup of my DefaultKeyBindings.dict only has home/end key fixes.

There's also the perma-badge on the settings app with the update prompt to 27. So annoying.

I've dug up an old Thinkpad and will install a fresh Linux on it. If only the MacBook performance and battery life weren't so good.

My design goal for this app was to make it as #Macintosh as possible.

I still have a few little features to implement and clean up others but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
